"The" Salvia Scale?
    #11218592 - 10/10/09 02:03 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Is this scale accurate? Is this why Salvia was named Salvia? I found said salvia scale here: http://www.ladysalvia.net/salvia-scale.htm

S - Subtle effect – You get the feeling that something is about to happen but also relaxation and increased sensorics.

A – Think differently – Colours and patterns attract attention, thoughts become illogical, more attention for colours and shapes, no hallucinations yet.

L – Superficial hallucinations – Visions with eyes closed, images and patterns, feeling of a second dimension, visions are clearly recognized as being visions and not confused with reality.

V - Visions – Complex three-dimensional realistic visions, possibly with voices, with eyes closed one looses track of reality. Travelling in time, transformations, seeing ghosts, everything is possible now.

I – Loss of identity – No sense whatsoever anymore about reality, inner experience, contact with gods or the feeling of being a god, contact with objects, thinking of being an object.

A - Amnesia – Loss of consciousness, person can topple over, person can also start walking while asleep or move heavily, mostly the person involved does not remember anything about this. As you loose consciousness, this is not the level you want to reach.

I have 1/2 a gram of this stuff and I'm hoping to get the best out of my experience once I try it out. I hear it's pretty wicked.

And, I dont know how serious this part of the question was, but,  the Salvia Divinorum isnt named that because of that scale......

The name was around a lot longer than the scale.

The scale was named that because of the name of the plant.

as the salvinorin is absorbed and gets to the brain the salvianaut will experience through the scale, to the degree that the dose/method/absorption speed commands.

i.e if he takes some extract, for about 10 seconds it will be
s-subtle; then for about 10 seconds it will be  a- altered;
then maybe 5 seconds of l-light visual distortion; then (depending on the dose and if eyes are opened or closed)it will move quickly or slowly through:
v- visual (much more than sparkles to full on visions) then if the dose is high enough i- immaterial where body sense is so confused that self and objects become merged, and if the dose is high enough A- amnesia and sleepwalking comes on.

with a high dose it can quickly go to immaterial and be very uncomfortable with no noticeable eye candy seeming to skip l & v.
and at an even higher dose it seems to go to amnesia right after feeling a bit odd.

bear in mind that the body is not a simple test tube, that absorption occurs at various speeds, and that the absorbed molecule is active in the brain for only about 90 seconds.

this means it is more normal than not to visit more than one of the salvia scale levels in any smoking session, and it can go from
v-i-v-i-v-i which is moderately uncomfortable and wonderful at the same time.

it is common to go from v-i-v-i-a-a-i-v-i
which is a trip with a blackout

i prefer sharing a joint of plain leaf for getting a longer ride with l-v-l-v-l-v-i-v-l over 10 minutes

The scale is more marketing then anything really...sure you can recognize each step if you look for it but then again it's not like they really stand out or that everyone experiences the same.

On higher doses i lose contact with reallity  and lose myself,it always seems as though my thoughts get farther and farther away from me untill i cannot recognize them as my own anymore. On lighter doses i don't lose contact with reality. That's about it for me.

you do not require more detailed resolution to your experience.
so for you 6 levels may be too many
for me, it is the beginning of my journey to have 6
to understand them, and how others' variety fits in to it.
I agree it is arbitrary, why not 32 levels?
it comes down to what we are interested in, and that is very personal.

but I would not call the 6 salvia levels marketing,
it spells s-a-l-v-i-a only as a mnemonic,
something to make it easier to remember,
not any kind of business strategy though advertising will use memory to sell things - you could hardly use amnesia to sell things.

Yeah,i may have chosen the wrong word for it,i didn't mean that it was meant to sell the plant but rather advertise the whole experience. It just seems that it's a bit of a strech to assaign every letter of the word salvia a level of experience when it would be much simpler and more effective to limit their number.

what I like about it is that it draws attention to what is happening, making the experience more of an investigation, which is a personal quest for knowledge about what is happening.

having studied the salvia scale and salvia, i have learned a lot more about all psychedelics and what a mental state really means. I think it is valuable to have this type of quest and to have salvia as a resource with which to examine it.

basically 32 levels or 6 levels, the choice is arbitrary, I really see it as a smooth ramp of increasing resonance (or slower fading of signals)
and that the difference between mental states is just that, is it more or less resonant, do mental objects stick around longer or slip away faster.

otherwise it is all about associative content, who and where we are.
