I.D. Request, Pann Subbs?
    #11217163 - 10/09/09 09:00 PM (8 years, 10 days ago)

Species 1: Suspected Pann. Subbs

Habitat:  Fertilized lawn with matter decomposing around the area the species was located.  Found in a cluster of around 20 grouped together and a few loners around the cluster (within a few feet). Located after a days of rain and humidity, warmer temps for fall.  Rained all morning, cleared up in afternoon when specimens were found.

Gills: Dark (Brown to black, attatched to stem, not exceeding the lowest part of the margin.  Tightly packed.  Gill edges white/cream colored and fringed

Stem: Light/White/tan to brown, hollow with what appear to be some fibrous type material when pulled apart.  Lines running up stem and curving with it. 3 inches in length.

Cap: Size (average about the size of 2 to 3 quarters),  Color varies from light to darker brown, no zonates apparent, darker in middle on most specimens collected from patch.  The shape of the caps vary in shape, most are pretty funky looking.

Spore print color: Black.

Bruising: None observed.

Location: Northeastern U.S., right around Mason/Dixon Line bordering North and South.

Pictures of Specimen: (Excuse bad quality--camera phone)

Cap:

Gills:

Stem:

Wanted to add some more pictures--taking some overnight spore prints now, the ones I took earlier were setting under the jar for about 2 hours and in both low light and holding them up to a light they are definitely black, my b-day is soon and I have about 25 of these guys and would like to have some fun since I haven't since spring : (.
Also to clarify it's been raining for nearly a week here now, cleared up today and I grabbed up these guys, raining right now so tomorrow I'm going to go back to the ritzy part of my neighborhood and have a look.

More Pictures of specimens.

Any idea of what they are then?  The pictures I just posted of not so fresh samples which were accidentally placed in the realm of a drying device :/...  The cluster, pictures from SubbedHunters guide and spore prints just threw me off, really curious as to what they are then.
Ty for the input : )

I'll let a TI (Trusted Identifier) take a stab. Not sure on this. Do you have a digi cam btw?

Now that they are not so wet I am seeing what appears to be Zonates--if I'm wrong correct me please as I mean no disrespect and just honestly want to find out what these are for if nothing else, the sake of knowledge.

Then from his guide, this along with the description/habitit of the said mushroom may have thrown me off along with the variety of caps as pictured by Subbed Hunter.

And not currently no I dont have a digi-cam to my use--girlfriend has it at her place and I won't be seeing her until after the weekend due to her work schedule then I'm back to work : (.

Thanks so much!
Thanks again, any input appreciated!
