snooping around horse/cow fields for actives
    #11216864 - 10/09/09 05:49 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

there are plenty of horse/cow fields here in the PSW but I don't really know anyone with a field myself and am not confident enough to sneak onto someones property and possibly get run off by the owner/cops so I have been thinking of a good scheme. Ok so heres my idea: throw on some nice cloths and knock on a field owners door saying I'm from the local collage and I'm in a mycology class and I ask if it would be alright if I collected mushroom samples from there field. what you guys think? am I having a pipe dream or am I on to a good idea?

Anyone have any suggestions for getting actives from peoples fields?

Thats the thing, Id rather not do something illegal when I could get permission. I am currently growing some cubes but its fun to hunt too.

Am I correct in assuming PSW mean pacific south west?

I didnt think there were any active species that grew on manure in that region

Obviously you have no clue what you're doing. Don't waste your time in the PSW hunting in fields. The only thing that will get you is a bunch of inactive mushrooms, maybe some poisonous ones, and possibly shot.

Do some research.

There's really not, not that would grow in a field. Panaeolus subbalteatus grows from horse dung, but usually in huge ass piles of shit that is cleaned out of stables.

There's a rare possibility of finding Psilocybe semilanceata in the mid-late fall, but you probably wouldn't have much luck in the PSW.
