well, ima say they looks like some kind of gymnopilus, possibly spectabilis, and possibly luteus. Is it extremely bitter? try a small taste test

something is throwing me off though, something with the stem is wrong, im sure these arent junonius, but a TI could differ. they almost remind me of some kind of armillaria too.

Did you take a spore print?

They don't look like Gymnopilus to me for some reason.

I am obviously not a trusted identifier. But those don't really look like gyms to me. The color is very pale and the caps on 1 and 7 seem off.

It does look like it has/had a partial veil. But the caps aren't scaley.

I guess I'm really just replying to see if I am right and to keep track of the thread.

Somewhat bitter and mushroomy. Think I may just toss them. They don't resemble the lutes that I find, But it does tastes about the same

well, if they are VERY bitter, and have a rusty orange spore print, then they still could possibly be wierd looking gyms.  Pic #5 is what has me hooked on gyms still...You gota admit, those gills look like spectabilis alot..im kinda lost lol...

The mature ones are throwing me off a bit also and the smaller fresher caps are lightly scaly looking And they definitely have a veil just not as noticeable as the Luts that I find. Some even have a veil still covering the gills.

In the upper left corner of last pic that is a bluish hue not just shadow. The camera does make it more pronounced though

Actually #5 is what makes me think they're not Gyms.  It's not the typical rusty colored gills and the stem's way off.

Can u verify the print is rusty orange? If they were all growing in large clusters, i think ima throw my vote to the fact that those are more than likely Armillaria(long curvy stem) Discoloration, the cap on #1 looks alot like armillaria, i have 1 last question that i have found pretty distinctive to gyms. When they are starting to get older, they produce an oder similar to that of OLD stinky beer.

Thats a picture of a true Gymnopilus Spectabilis, They show similarities, imo.

And this is a spore print of a more mature species.

Thanks for the help guys but I'm just going to toss em. Too borderline for me. I just want to add to my personal find list. The Spectabilis has still eluded me :uhoh:

The Spectabilis I've found are in grassy areas or open areas at the base of trees or stumps, growing off of roots.  Near or in suburbia.

They look pretty strange but I think they are Gymnopilus.
