I HATE group projects in school

Wow, I had to leave class early I was getting so frustrated with my group. Nobody can agree on anything and we aren't getting shit done. I think if they don't get anything figured out that's not totally retarded I'm just gonna make my own project and turn it in, cause I don't want my grade to be ruined by a couple obstinate people who don't know what they're talking about.

I hate group projects more than anything. I always make sure I know what's going on so I can take the reigns right from the get-go and do the project myself.

There's a girl in my group who's a friend of mine, and a total sweetheart, but she keeps interrupting good ideas with horrible ones. She's not in the major that this class is for, it's an elective for her, so she has a pretty limited knowledge of the subject (it's a 400 level forestry class). The person with the least knowledge is talking the most, and we sat there for 2 hours and got basically nothing done because of it.
I said I had to work and wanted to get some food beforehand and dipped out.

I understand why teachers/professors assign group projects. They want to develop our team building skills. But all my life, I've been going to public schools. Right now, I'm attending a public university, and there is SUCH a mix between motivated students and slacking fuck ups.
Group projects fucking suck.

This.
Seems the OP had ample opportunity to raise his concerns but chose to bitch on a forum about it.
Not to mention the bitch was his FRIEND. Tell her to STFU and get the project rolling.

I don't want to tell her to STFU because I know how she is and she'd get all offended. I put in my input and the other guys seem to be going with her stupid ideas. I'm not gonna constantly fight a whole group

well circular, you either stand up for yourself and deal with a whiny bitch
or you don't stand up for yourself, and choke on some serious dick.
What's your choice?

My groups are always useless and to make it worse we do lots of group work -_- Maybe if people did their own work and came to meetings then i wouldnt have a problem with group work, but there will always be those people

Be a leader. Subtly encourage the group to work. Agree on what certain people are responsible for. If you don't command the conversation competently, no one will. Let people know (gently) when they have bad ideas.
Professors want you to do group work so you can see how people can be sources of inspiration to each other. If you are not actively inspiring your group members to do their best and most creative work (and gently pointing out to them when they are incompetent), then you are not doing your job and you will fail.
If you don't learn how to get incompetent or slow people to do work well, then you will fail at life or be stuck in low-level positions. I have a job where my performance depends on the performance of my "underlings". Chances are, you'll mostly be in the same position whatever job you get.

It's easy to convince people to agree with you if you can make a logical argument supporting your position, and do it in a way that is inoffensive. If you can't do that, you won't get anywhere. Life is a group activity. Learn how to cope with that while you're young, or you'll spend the next 60 years feeling like you're butting your head up against a brick wall.

I've been in your situation many a times. These situations happened too often at the community college level. Sometimes, you've got to choose the better of the two. Of course, an ideal situation would be to have a dream team of ambitious students- but you don't have that situation, so deal it how you can.

I skipped the last half of the posts but yea group projects in college are BS IMO. To get a decent grade you have to takeover and do everyone elses work for them or atleast revise it. Why your grade is dependent on someone elses perfomance is beyond me.

QFT. I mean, like I said earlier, I see how professors think. They're trying to enhance our team-based skills, but often fail to realize that the majority of students just don't give a shit- and wind up screwing the higher performers.
