It was a tour :/ ,  Still fun to look at things untouched/un-ruined for thousands of years.  They said it takes about 50-100 years to produce an inch of stalagtite/mite

Cool! yeah, those stalag-things apparently grow about 1 mm a year. I visited a 'modern' cave this summer; the entrance hallway was about 60 years old. Indeed, the longest stalagtites I saw were perhaps 6cm long and very, very flimsy.

btw, anyone here ever explored the ape caves near the washington/oregon border?

just wondering because most people never actually go through the whole thing... gets freaky near the far end... past the small nontouristy exit/entrance...

there is some weird shit down there

 , thanks for responding.

I've never heard of the apes caves.  I've lived in WA all my life but have never visited a cave there.  After this trip i thought to myself i really need to start checking some spots out.  Is it a tour or do you go alone?

This cave i was in has 3 floors but they would only let us check out the bottom floor :/ .  They didnt want to disturb the 4-6 diff species of bats on the upper floors(which i can understand)

wow that is a badass cave!

a good friend of mine in kentucky has an entrance to his own personal cave in his backyard. it is so fucking sweet. if you go exploring far enough it eventually links up with the mammoth cave system, which is pretty fucking huge. nothing like having your own personal cave to go chief blunts in.
