    #11210606 - 10/08/09 08:12 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

grown on tropical potting soil, humidity was a problem on and off for several hours due to malfunctioning machine.  can that be the cause or the tropical soil ?  the eq was full of shit got 2 small ones out of it, pura vida costa rican did better but veryy short like a lighter.

what do you guys think ?

It probably wasn't wise to use tropical potting soil as a substrate.  What brand is the stuff?

What % was your rh during the off hours?

Lighter height doesn't seem incredibly short, either.  I mean, if we're talking small mushrooms, what I think of is smaller than that.  How thick were they?

CRs have been small in my dealings with them too.  But he used potting soil as a sub.  I mean, what does that consist of? peat/verm/perl/fertilizers? definitely not an ideal choice for this type of work.

It depends, some of the bricks of coir I've gotten, say "Tropical Soil". IDK though, I had a problem with small fruits and it was the substrate that was too dry before colonizing, brought it closer to field cap next time and got much better sized fruits.

Yeah, dry sub will cause this problem alright.

What does the potting soil consist of though?
