I would not say that stimulus of the present are processed through past memories, but rather that past memories are being processed through  stimulus of the present.

I think it goes something like this: your imagination simply predicts what is going to happen, it needs to do this all the time to survive but our brains got so advanced we actually see whole scenarios. When I have a deja vu and I'm fast enough, I'm able to say the words before it comes out their mouths, always makes people look really suprised how did you know that? In the end it comes down to logical elimination of possibilities, but the brain does this automatically, which creates deja vu's.

I like to explain it as a side effect of being in a layered state of mind.
past moments have not faded yet
they linger
you trip out on side issues from past moments
but
the the sensory time line continues - you are also partly in the now and aware to a degree.

then while immersed in something quite a few moments ago, you jerk "forward" through the layers of lingering moments and are shocked by being familiar.
(shift to french accent) but of course!(waves arm to go with accent)

but of course you have been here in the present before, you have just been immersed (tripping) in the past and now you are blinking and dripping in the present again.

I dont think you can chuck it just to your imagination "making it up." that's if to say you could "figure out" what someone ELSE is going to do/say ALL the time with out having some sort of premonition. That makes no sense, everyone has free will and anyone can decide to do something completely out of character and completely random. If you are able to "forsee" that it just CANT be just your brain processing info like numbers and coming up the the same result as what happens.

Like in the example I mentioned. How could my brain make up that my friend was gonna turn around and bend over? How could it make up what her shirt looked like and how it would bunch up when she bent over?
It had nothing to do with the way she is, or the previous knowledge I have of her, or the knowledge I had about the whole situation.

You mention being fast enough and saying other peoples thoughts for them, and that is pretty cool, and also what I would think Deja Vu is, but I just dont think its a simple deduction of our brain.

I have been in situations when I try to do something similar. Like trying to change the conversation so the people around me will say something different than what I "saw" them say, to see if I can "break" the Deja Vu, but I am never able to do so. Things always end up happening the same as what I "saw".

I used to have this theory that (because I was told when the sun goes out it will become a black hole) when the sun goes out, it will form a black hole. Which are known to suck in everything, including time. So when it happens, everything just restarts... and that Deja Vu was when people strayed from the path they took previously. Who knows though, that's really just food for thought...


Nevermind, it has been brought to my attention that the sun thing wasn't true.
