Should I steal this bunny or not?
    #11210330 - 10/08/09 07:40 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

So these people a few streets over have a adorable bunny rabbit that they
keep on their porch. Its cage is always inch deep in shit and piss, and when i say hi to it the poor little guy sticks his paws and mouth out of the cage with a frantic look in his eyes like 'help me!!!' The bastard owners got a new puppy a few months ago and since then dont seem to give two shits about the thing.

So should i mind my own buisness and keep my hands to myself?

Or should i liberate him and give him bunny paradise at my house?

Steal it but leave them a note saying something like "I took your bunny to a better place since you can't take care of it."

Only do this if you are capable of taking care of it yourself.

Take him, then call the cops and say they cooked him. Fun times.

Honestly, if they have other pets, take him and then turn them in before they can clean the cage.

Leave em a note saying you've brought it to a better place! Maybe they won't even mind that much once they see that instead of thinking it escaped and is gonna die in the wild.

but if they knew someone stole it they would immediately suspect neighbors first(most likely).  I'd leave the door open, no suspicion

They actually live about 3 blocks over. there is no way im going to get caught doing it because they have no lights outside and they leave their screen door on their porch open all the time. The poor bunny doesn't even have anything in his cage to cuddle under and it's getting to be 40 degrees at night. The only thing im going to feel bad about is the peple that live there have little kids who problably love the thing, or at least did love it and will miss it. Oh well, i bet it takes them a few days to get over and the bunny will have a nice new home. I have a 10X10 fence in my backyard i can let it hop around in, and a 3X3 cage it can stay in on the porch. I have all the neccesary things to take care of a bunny the right way. My wife use to raise bunnies and she absolutly loves them.

I saw the poor neglected thing on a delivery i was on.

Im going to go all black opps on tonights mission. Tonight the bunny is going to be freed from the neglecting hands of evil pet owners. Will update around 2am.

Steal it.
Don't let it go, it doesn't stand a chance.
Give it a nice hidden life in a clean cage at your house.
Make sure you don't let people know you have a bunny, the people will surely look for it.
Rule #1 though, if you can't properly take care of an animal, don't take it.

I scoped out the guys house. The front door to their porch is shut, and there are no lights anywhere. I gotta admit I'm feelin a bit nervous to go over there and nab the bunny, Ive never stolen a thing from anyone in my life. It's raining really hard out there so i can't walk down like i planned to. I'm debating driving over there and walking a block. I'm also debating whether i have the balls to just open up someones door and steal a pet rabbit. I know they are mistreating the thing, but this is totally out of character for me.

I should just walk down there in the rain, open up the door, take the little cage and then walk away like I'm not doing anything wrong at all. If for some reason someone sees me i could always just put the cage down and book it. Just plotting this out is making me feel sketchy.

Hm.. I .. must... save.. bunny. :pirate:

but definitely call the aspca and at least talk to them, they might be abale to file a criminal case against those fuckers.

Yeah, you'd be doing the bunny a favor to get him out of there. If it's raining maybe wait for another night to liberate it.

Nobody will stop you if you have that look of confidence on your face. You have to make yourself believe that you're just doing a kind, ordinary thing.

Yeah this is more about the bunny's life man, I believe you can do it. Will you make a lot of noise going opening the door? If not then just in and out at a regular walking pace.

Your only a small walk away, the rain should be fine, just dry the bun when you get home. I think a rainy night is perfect for something like this. GL!

I rode my bike over there so i could be quick and quiet. It was raining pretty good and i am pretty soaked. The door was locked.

The bunny nightmare continues.

I can't lie to you guys, the door wasn't locked. I couldn't take the bunny. I just pictured little kids crying cause their bunny was gone. Then i asked myself, who would they suspect stole the bunny? The delivery guy was playing with it through the cage, did he come back and take it? Im gong to wait till tomorrow. If it is still there and in the same condition, im fuckin nabbin it.

I AM WEAKSAUSE!  :nogame:

Am i being weak when i should just say fuck it? Should i really go take the rabbit now, or should i wait till they wouldn't think i took it? Would they even think i would have came back to bunnynap? Am i a giant vagina?

The only other option is talking to them about it, but you would have to gauge if it would help at all.

Otherwise, wait for tomorrow and check to make sure your balls are still in the scrotum, THEN NAB THAT BUNNNAY.

if you're going to be a vagina, at least call your local aspca and let them know what's happening, vagina.

He better have stolen that bunny, no way they suspect him. They probably won't even call the cops considering the condition the bunny is currently in.

What if the bunny were in your shoes and you were in its? You admit that you have had conversations with it and know that it wants you to help it.  Could u imagine living atop of months of your own feces?  There is a reason as to why you ever even noticed the condition of that poor creature anyways.  Do not think of doing a wrong thing, for that you are not, but think of doing what the universe would have you to do... walk up to that door, open it, walk up to the cage, open it, and fulfill this task...the bunny begs this of u.

Well technically he is doing something wrong. It is still stealing. I would call the ASPCA and get things done legally. Just leave an anon. tip. And then if they dont do shit about it go steal it.

They're really cute too. Until you're really hungry. Then they look really delicious.
But you don't want them living in their own shit. That's not good for flavor and all the delicious bunny juices.

I can't think of a more boring pet.

Well, actually I can, but I still don't get it. My old neighbors had a bunny and all it did was sit in the cage. People think it's all cute but when it doesn't do anything they just leave it in the cage to "live".

dude, take pictures and then steal it.  if you get in trouble, you'll have evidence to give to animal control people.

they will say you should have just alerted the authoritah and not stolen it, but they might give u a leaner sentence if you get caught, which you wont if your careful

Do it.  srsly.  and tell no one.  Not even the rabbit.
(especially not the rabbit)
Just dress up like your neighbors when you feed it/clean it and the little guy will never know.  :bunnypeace:

Oh, and make sure you take pictures and video of your little dress up cleaning the bunny sessions and post it all over the shroomery.  Or just pm them to me. Whatever.

Mistreating animals is unneccessary and selfish. If people are too lazy or too busy to care for them like they should then they shouldn't get one in the first place.

That having been said,
if you do this thing, they will probably buy another one, move it to the inside of the house and then you will have to dress up like a cat burgler to break in and save it from the  people.
And well,
let's face it,
no one on the interweb wants to see pictures of you dressed like that when we could see you dressed like a suburbanite,
cleaning,
fucking, and eating a bunny.
I think it's time for a google image search.
I mean, am I right guys or am I right?
Can I get an amen!?

They actually have there own personality, you just have to spend the time. I thought they were just bun's until you actually spend time and get to know their different personalities. Leaving it in a cage is just horrible, they need room to run around.

You need to do this Kada. This not only is an epic tail, but fuck man, this is an animal with a soul we are talking about.

Go be a man, bust open the door, bend in there, grab it, walk out. Get in your car, drive home, get him out of the cage, give me the meal he hasn't had in weeks and enjoy your new friends.

you use the word STEAL. If it were me and I knew or could tell they were looking for their bunny and wanted it back, I would give it back. The question will be, are you a THIEF?

It wouldn't be stealing though.
What kind of life is being in a cage surrounded by piss/shit? The bunny is obviously trying to reach him with his motions saying help me help me.
I'd say that's a rescue operation.

Are there thing around your house we could find and say its being neglected. Actually you have a good point about its conditions even tho ist not yours cuz it could be food and then youre taking food. But If you just open the cage door and umm........I dont see no crime that it got out it self and took off.

Sure. But the things that are being neglected don't breathe.
If it's lived in it's cage it's whole life i doubt it'd be able to survive in the outdoors.
But lets just say the bunny "opens" the cage. And he just so happens to be outside waiting with open arms.
Than no crime was committed. :o

Well did you go on the property and take away property that was not youres and had no permission or did the bunny come to you? More importantly what was your intention, remember what they did to horse thieves if were using STEAL?

From a law prospective yes. But animals aren't property. They have just as much heart and soul as we do.
He could say the bunny came to him and than what could they really do?
He found a wild bunny and it came up to him and he took it home. If theres no witnesses, no finger prints what could they do?

All im say I would not say "Should I steel". I would say "should I give life to a bunny" thats all cuz I agree if its all shitty and not food let it got. My point is I would not Steal.

Well like it or not common law and statutory law says they are property. The Supreme court the highest court on the land a common law court has ruled for 300 years if I nit mistaken say the are property.  I know animals have life and should not be property but legally they are. If you dont like it offer to buy it, give him something in return dont just take something or buy a bunch of animals to save and keep or go out and try to educate the public but dont STEAL.

My daughter "stole' a rabbit last winter. She checked its hutch one day and saw that it had no food and its water bowl was frozen. She left some veggies for it and returned the next day. The only foot prints in the snow were hers, so she took it home to live with her 2 other rabbits that were rescued from a lab. :peace: .

Why do you have to use the word steal if saving it? Rabbit stew is pretty good, difficult to dress tho.

This is worse than when someone on the PE forums found his dad's trip notes and planned to scan them, but never even posted an update. Steal the fucking bunny already and post some pics.

Jesus you guys, you made this thread all nutzo. Ive been taking care of my sick wife all weekend and thats been more important than this rabbit. There have been cases of H1N1 at the school she works at and it had me freaked out that she was sick. She is better btw. She had a temp of 103 - 104 all weekend. Besides working every night ive been taking care of the kids by myself and my sick wife. She is alot better if anyone cares.

I wasn't going to update until i had the damn rabbit. I drove past there just a second ago and yes the bunny was on the porch, the porch was locked, the bunnys cage was clean, and i woke up the people in the house shining the flashlight in their porch. What i didn't notice the day before was in the room behind the porch they have fish tanks with other animals in them. Obviously they know how to take care of animals, and i must have seen the bunny cage on a really bad day.

Im not stealing the rabbit because it is no doubt one of their daughters that live there. The bunny was not even in the cage when i looked in, it was hopping around in a little area with newspaper on the floor. What looked like a horrible situation was just not one i understood when i looked the first day or that night.

Rabbit looked fine tonight honestly. Unless 44 degrees is to cold for a rabbit to be living in. If i thought it was in any danger i would really have taken it, but it looked ok and im not stealing a rabbit from someones kids. It looked really clean. Sorry this didn't end with rabbit pictures and a daring rescue. I was holding back on updating this thread in hopes that i could end it in a super awesome way with a bunny that needed saving saved and at my house. Well the bunny is fine and i didn't steal from kids.

:billymaythumbup:  :killerrabbit:

Bun eees OK! I am thinking of buying a bunny now tho.

I wasn't going to steal the bunny until i fully understood the situation. Im not a bunny thief. Im not a theif at all. I just saw a poor little rabbit standing in its own shit and it worried me that it was being abused. If i was going to steal the rabbit i would of. I didn't take it right away because i didn't want to and not be right. I don't blindly jump into shit like that. I was more afraid of being wrong about the situation than i was about getting caught.

The neighbors didn't see me shining the light, the people in the house did. I jumped in my car and drove off like i wasn't even doing anything wrong. What scared the shit out of me more was seeing a cop 2 blocks over on my way home. I was like, fuck he knows man. The pig knows about the bunny plan, and I'm going to be the one sitting in my own shit in a cage tonight lol. Of course i was just joking with myself. I know the cops in this town and they would have laughed their asses off if i really did get caught by them shinning a flashlight in the porch and had to explain myself.

Interesting conclusion. I have a lot of experience with small animals. I would recommend not getting a rabbit to most people. To be happy, they need a lot of care. They need a companion rabbit and space to run around at least some time. They are quite smart and energetic, and it is sad for them to be bored in a cage where they can't exercise. Most people don't understand they may have to care for it for 10 years.

My wife raised rabbits when she was a kid, so she really knows what it takes to care for them properly. She had one special bunny that she loved out of all of them. It was her favorite pet until her dad killed and fed it to her without her knowing until it was consumed.

She knew it wasn't chicken. Her parents didn't tell her what it was until she cleaned her plate. She never thought in a million years it was her rabbit. It wasn't even a wild rabbit, it was a big floppy eared one. Talk about wrong. Her dad laughs manically to this day about it. It's actually pretty funny when he gets going lol.

I grew up hunting and eating rabbits, nothing mean about that

if he was short on food and had to kill the rabbit, I can understand that too
but telling your kid that she just ate her pet is fucking disturbing
just tell her that her pet rabbit ran off
