I am not familiar with what exactly they are trying to accomplish. Please elaborate.

They are closing the river to the public to increase salmon production?

Well they should have thought about that shit when they took the land from the Natives.

What about the govenor threatening to vetoe all these no water bills that will decrease californias water intake.

well the thing is when friant dam was built in the 40's it caused the sj river to dry up for like 60 miles. killing the salmon population completely, when it used to be one of the largest salmon runs in california. they have been in court for 18 years trying to resolve this issue, but enviromentalist and farmers came to an agreement to restore before the federal govt could rule against the farmers completely. arnold says we are in a catastrophic drought, yet we are over 80% capacity in ca resivoirs in june 2009..... its all about the illegal mexicans and their jobs and the farmers and their profits. not the land, not the people and definitely not the wildlife population, which i care more about than any illegal immigrant or farmers paycheck.

no, they are restoring many miles of dry river, then reintroducing salmon to the river and creating spawning grounds. salmon fishing is currently suspended in CA due to the dwindling population.

In that case they should restore the river and make the local area wildlife reserve. That will destroy any hopes for farmers and bring back the salmon population in a hundred years or so.

I am with you, i care more about the wildlife than farmers or their paychecks. I grow my own produce anyways.

they started releasing water on the 1st, they will continue to do so as well as break ground for projects like re-routing around other dams, building salmon stairs on others and widening the river until dec 31st 2012 when the first salmon will be planted.

also, if people ar so worried about the farm land and its fallow salinity, then they would throw down some poo instead of chemmy salt based fertilizer. they dont care. its all about the bottom line, the dollar and the political votes that will follow pleasing the mexicans.
