In the market for a microscope
    #11206591 - 10/08/09 11:29 AM (8 years, 17 days ago)

I'm trying to find some suggestions as to what sort of microscope to get. I need it as cheap as possible and it needs to be able to view spores. Those are the only two requirements.

Just about any microscope will view spores alright.  I suggest getting a cheapie from ebay or the like.  After using it for awhile you're realize what features you want when you get a real one.

Depends what you are wanting to do.  You can count them and take measurements at 400X pretty easy.  If you want to look closely at them to see small features you'll need a higher power.

The Carl Zeiss LSM 700 Laser Scanning Microscope is a pretty decent scope. Or maybe just a spinning disk on a Olympus BX51 would better fit your budget.
