Thursday Mornin', Comin' Down
    #11206550 - 10/08/09 11:22 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

So I wake up this morning and in the middle of the floor in front of my bedroom is the grossest/strangest thing I've ever found in my house.

I look down, and I see a yogurt cup, that had been pulled from the garbage, and lotsa fur and tiny intestines/guts were hanging out the open end.

I kinda freaked out and just threw it into my front yard. When it landed, a decapitated and de-tailed chipmunk carcass came out.

After a few minutes, I noticed a chipmunk's head was stuck by dried blood to the handle of my fishin' pole on the front porch.

Another few minutes pass and I find the tail underneath my coffee table.

Now, I leave the back door cracked at night so the dogs and cat can get in and out.

But whatever did this killed the chipmunk in the front yard, and brought it through the backyard into the house.

My only guess is the cat, but....

how did he get the carcass stuck inside of a yogurt cup?

I'm confused

also, here's a neat poem I wrote a long time ago:
Quote:

I'm scared
that I'll die
forgotten
with my father forgetting
the roar of his new family's waves
deafening his ears, hell
forget me and
friends usually come and go
and they'll forget and
all other blood kin are dead or dissolving
into Alabama soil.
So they'll all forget, I'm afraid,
that I existed
lived
stayed
smoked cigarettes
painted dinosaurs
wrote poetry
been struck
and struck
and loved,
lusted after mediterranean lovelies, like there weren't
blonde Nordic Princesses and
African queens
begging for my attention.
I'm genuinely afraid of being forgotten
And so I write and paint and lust and love
and fight and fuck like it's
all gonna be etched in
stone.
One day, maybe, while staring at vaporous clouds
of white or dimly lit starry fires in
the night sky,
I'll finally feel satisfied
with all the columns and statues I've erected
and canvases I've destroyed and pieces of
paper I've defiled with poetry
and ears I've filled with shit
and words i've invented
and I'll finally be able to say "No one can forget me now;
no one can say I died here for nothing;
no one can say my life was wasted."
The cirrhosis cigarette cancer
whiskey death will take me
quietly, and even
the final clink of a bottle,
or the las apocryphal, apocalyptic
lighter strike will be heard,
and someone can say
"What a beautiful sound!"
I'll be scared of being forgotten until then,
for the almighty has cursed me
with a twisted malevolent-unwanted
genuine vanity
that keeps me constantly checking
my old poems, reflective surfaces,
and thoughtwords, just to see if
someone has noticed,
if someone
will
remember.

You think murderous blackout rampages against defenseless animals are a side effect of the Rocket Spice?

If so, that's so :aweoverdose:

Dude I hope I'm not sleep walking and murdering the chipmunks that live in my front yard

I hate the squirrels, love the chipmunks

My mexican neighbor had a house burn down because of squirrels chewing electrical wires

I hope my poetry's not too bad, I have books and books and books full from when I was 13 'til now, I'm definitely one of those "stifled southern writer" types

No shit man, I keep finding feathers too but never a bird body...

I think Henry (cat) has 'em dissolving in vats of acid in the shed out back...

Sounds like you're a bona fide genteel poet! :fishy: :dancingbacon: :squid:

You should submit some of your stuff to get published if you haven't yet. :super:

I've been published (not vanity publishing or self publishing) maybe four or five times? Not counting high school/university publications. They always pick the poems I don't like. Whenever I'm like "I hope they pick THIS one!" They always write shit about that poem like "Not enough!" or "Doesn't seem your style?".

The key to getting published IS in fact quantity. The publishers are more likely to find something in a big stack rather than picking the one and only work you submitted. And don't ever go with a vanity press thing, they print EVERY SINGLE SUBMISSION, that way everybodys grandma buys a copy. It's a scam, and being in a vanity press publication is kind of a black mark.

When I finish my experimental-fiction-post-apocalyptic-nostalgia-themed-epic-poem-novella I'm self-publishing it though.

oh and yea BTW I just found a SECOND chipmunk tail.

I'm gonna go look for another body.

I just went back and read through that.

It's cool man, very macabre.

You should poast more in your journal.

Here is one of mine:

Celestial Scale

A single star sparks the space of sky
Stretches into a spiraling cylinder
Slowly circle spinning, spinning stops

Tunneling my line of view
To a parallel scene
With dimensions untrue
To our world so keen

Eternity runs her wrath around the ring
An other has followed, shining collected gleam

He seeks a focused chance to attack but fails
Eternity greets him, gaining on his tail

Speeding and striving, starving for domination
She finds herself in the other's situation

For her to set the trap and make the catch
Then she must lap the one who's met his match

In turn, both know they'll never win the game
A perfect stale mate, locked within the frame

Both accept their plight, continue flight
Ecstatic masks of awe fall through the night

But if the other one is everlasting
Eternity will surely not be passing

Cylinder resumes motion
Slowly circle spinning, spinning

Falls away from my face

And nothing was ever there

If you build it they will shrug.
