Lactarius indigo tips, ideas just for fun
    #11205000 - 10/08/09 02:30 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

recently discovered these fellas.  Was pondering the edibles possibilities. Seems like a good mushroom to grow for fun and get some wood lover experience under the belt. Also, i would like to know if theres any good dishes these could go in. Not a really big fan of non psychoactive, but think i'll give these fellas a chance. I seem obligated since i know where they grow.

I love 'em!

I'm so glad they're relatively common in North America, and they're decent grilled whole like that.

I love the color they add to a plate, even though they're not even that tasty.

Definitely a fascinating species, but according to literature, they are mycorrhizal, not wood lovers. You may be able to cultivate mycelium, but for fruiting you would need to establish a symbiosis with the right type of tree.
