You have to get the High Temp stuff from an automotive parts store.  Don't use the stuff you bought... it probably won't withstand the pressure cooker.  The good stuff is usually red and comes in a very small tube.... again, auto parts store.  Every one will have it.

Infea is right.  Auto parts store.  I've used the red stuff, the black stuff, and the clear stuff.  All worked great.

Silicone caulk works fine.. silicone (100% silicone) IS high temp resistant..

"Silicone caulk is the type of caulk that people tend to be most familiar with. It is usually clear in color and has a rubbery, flexible texture when dry. For the past 20 years or so, the majority of caulks on the market have been made out of silicone. Because of its durability and effectiveness on a wide variety of surfaces, silicone continues to be a popular choice today. It is especially useful on non-porous surfaces, including metal and plastic. And because it stays flexible after it is dry, silicone caulk rarely breaks or cracks as a result of extreme temperatures or rapid temperature changes. This makes it perfect for filling gaps around windows and doors."

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

Just reaffirming: the stuff you are looking for won't be at hardware stores; only automotive.

I've used both rtv and silicone caulk. Both work just fine.

Slimz is exactly right.  Just let it cure for a day before you PC.

I'm using just regular GE Silicone 2 for Kitchen and Bath. The back says it's good to 400 degrees F after it's cured. It's withstood the PC.

I've read this mis-info about having to use rtv. Regular

silicone works perfectly fine. I have lids I made months ago

that are still working perfectly fine after having been PC'd a

dozen times. You're good to go!  :dancer:

Normal silicone should work perfectly fine. I went out of my way to get RTV so that I could experiment with an oven tek only to find out that tyvec melts at under 300F. Any 100% silicone will work fine.
