Say hello to Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle

One of two loaners in this experimental tray, but healthy loaners they are!  My own Ecuador spores, into LC into rye into case.  The tray has a mix of 1/3rd part rehydrated horse manure from Myco Supply 1/3rd part fine to medium verm and 1/3rd part organic seed starter (the no fertilizer type).  7 to 7.5ph give or take.  RH is at 92to 94 give or take.  It came up early but the rest of the tray seems stalled.  Hmmmm 

‘Fatty’ at around 1:30pm today, resting nicely.  :dancingshroom:




Fatty again later today at around 10:30pm, getting ready to break his veil.  Darn!  I was hoping it would go a bit longer and get a bit fatter.  But it looks like its destined for the print chamber in a few hours.  :frown:

Fatty died today.  :frown:

I printed, harvested, reprinted, and grabbed several samples to clone Roscoe today.  It wasn't as big as I would have liked.  It weighed in at 23.21g fresh. 

What do I mean by printed, harvested and reprinted?  Check out the pictures.  I attached a lightweight foil to the stipe while it was still growing and let it drop its spores.  I packaged that in a sterile Petri dish.  Once it appeared to be done I harvested it weighed it and reprinted it.  I got another descent print directly to Petri dish.  They are both drying right now.  I don't hold much hope for the foil print but the Petri dish one should be clean.

Wow!  Very cool!  I never played with any settings for the pictures.  I just snapped cropped a few and posted.  But that does look so much better!  Thanks!

These are fourth generation ecuador.  I got the original spores from sporeworks a long tme ago. 

But the strange thing is that only three came up with a lot of large pins.  The try is experimental casing mix for me, I experiment a lot.  So I never expected much.

Fatty printed and dried nicely.  But now we have the son of fatty coming up in nearly the exact same place!  Here is a pic...



A strange tray of shrooms.  This second flush had many, many more pins, and is fruiting in a better pattern but it still insists on having at least on 'FATTY'.

EBay.  Only $12 including shipping.  And it is really accurate.  I have some calibration weights form my triple beam and this thing is more accurate then my triple beam.  But it only goes to 300g.
