Recommend me good speakers and a sub for my living room within a reasonable price range.
Go!

I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770's and they sound like magic. That's all I can really afford for now but I'm really happy with them.
You can turn a descent pair of headphones into an awesome pair with some good old REFER.

They're desktop speakers, but what I use are logitech Z-2300s. I got 'em for a good price ... they are good but not exceptionally so.
I guess if you wanted, they could be decent living room speakers.

I have a whole philing cabinet full of audio. Horrible jokes aside, has anyone tried the Beats by dre earphones? I found that they had (by far) the best sound & deepest bass out of any headphones/earphones I have ever tried. Granted, at $150, they better be damn good. Despite the excellent sound quality, the buds just didn't want to stay in the ear. They came with six, yes six, different attachments to fit in the ear. None of them liked my ears

I have a receiver so I'd get "real" speakers.
I'm gonna ask my dad for some decent computer speakers for Christmas though. I've been listening to music on my laptop speakers when I'm in my room for far too long.

I don't want to be 'that guy' but if you have the money laying around, bose is gonna be one of your best bets.

I have these speakers, they are good for movies but lack midrange for music. Great bass though.

Really? I've heard Bose is kind of a rip-off, and that they're primarily selling you a reputation. Personally, I don't have an opinion about them.

Yeah right. I don't have the money laying around and if I did I'd save some of it by not getting Bose.
That's about all I know though.

I agree 100%. I really want to upgrade, but I'm broke.

The first thing I thought was, oh it's "that guy" LOL
Bose in all honesty is good, but far from the best and certainly not the best value.

When you get the money get some good headphones and a headphone amp and your music will come alive. My setup cost me under $300 and the difference is exponential.

Maaan, I dunno about that. I have Sennheiser eH 350s (very good headphones, IMO), and though I grant that I do not have a headphone amp, I simply do not like the "cloistered" feeling I get when using headphones. Speakers fill a room, and that's what music is all about.

very ture.
BUT when people have moments where headphones are the only option, it's nice to have a good pair laying around. I'd prefer my stereo in my bedroom to a pair of headphones anyday.

You NEEEEED a headphone amp if you want your headphones to sparkle, the difference for my phones (Beyerdynamic DT770 80 Ohm) is huge.
I use a Total AirHead, it was $100 and makes a huge difference. Far from the best but it makes for a great sound even for mixing standards.
