PNW Oregon Coast ID
    #11203965 - 10/07/09 11:49 PM (8 years, 9 months ago)

Hi there. I am a new user and also new to the hunting game ! I found these on the ground during a hunt on the Oregon coast. I found a couple that seemed to have fallen over and the rest were found in groups. I believe they are all chanterelles but since I am new to the game, I would definitely love an ID. Thanks a lot.

Some kind of Chantrelle but I am not sure which. What part of the coast are you in?

Hmm, chants should have the gill lines running down most of the stem, those don't look like chants, more like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_chanterelle

I actually live in Portland and I made the trip out to around Seaside/Canon beach. It's awfully beautiful out there. I had no clue where to start looking when I got out there but I'm glad the trip was at least mildly fruitful !

Probably Cantharellus formosus, but for some other possibilities see here

I got a huge late august haul in cannon beach. As alan said Cantharellus Formosus, i personally think they look a bit more like Cibarius, but its real hard to differentiate them. Doesnt really make a difference either.
