Id Request
    #11202170 - 10/07/09 05:37 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

This is my first post. I have recently tried shrooms and would like to be able to find wild edible ones that are safe to eat. I read several guides and looked up what grows in my area but am having trouble identifying them. I want to make sure they are 100% safe and know what they are before I eat them. Please be kind to the noob.

All of these were found in Eastern North Carolina

Species 1:

Habitat:
Woods, on or near rotten wood

Gills:

Stem:
2'' long, yellow, firm

Cap:
1 to 4 cm, yellow, firm,

Spore print color:

Species 2:

Habitat:
Woods, on or near rotten wood

Gills:
white attached

Stem:
1 to 3cm, skinny and firm, white to tan color

Cap:
1 to 2 cm, light brown, to dark brown, not to firm but no soft

Spore print color:
brown spores

Species 3:

Habitat:
Woods, on or near rotten wood

Gills:
yellowish white tan

Stem:
1 to 5cm, narrow and firm but a little spongy, yellowish/brown

Cap:
1 to 3 cm, yellow and brown little bit of purple, , not to firm but no soft

Spore print color:
brown and maybe purple spores

I am going to get better pictures. I got to borrow my girls friends digital camera.

I doubt number 2 is Mycena. Aren't those suppose to bleed red when you cut them?
