The wife and I played the shit out of 'Champions of Norrath' as well as 'Champions: Return to Arms' for the PS2. We also played the shit outta the Baldurs Gate series (for PS2 also). I wish they'd come out with something similar for PS3. We always have such a blast running around together killing goblins!

I have both Champions and Return to Arms + Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance
I have played the second Baldurs gate with Dorn.
I love these games.
Out of the Champions of Norrath series, what character do you think is the toughest.
I generally play by myself, and recently found a cheat that bumps you to level 20 and gives you 999 skill points. Since the magic user is so weak by himself I bumped him up and he is pretty bad ass.
So far I have found that the ranger is by far the toughest hombre in the game

Yeah, I've seen that cheat also. Never did use it though. The wife and I have a fun time building characters from scratch. We've built high level characters several times over in each of the games.
In the Champions series I always end up playing the Barbarian Warrior. I really love the dual wield option. Nothing like getting two badasss bastard swords and hacking the shit out of everything around you! I was never a stand-back-and-shoot-shit type of player. I like to dive into the fray with my swords a flying. Barbarian works best for that.

Yea, in the second game there is the option to go head to head with your partner.
We have put (almost) every character up against each other, and the ranger BY FAR out preforms every other character.
The barbarian can't get close enough to touch him

Did you try the one character that looks like a Tiger? He was fun for a bit but wasn't really useful as he leveled up.
And yeah, Brabarian has to get close to be effective. Luckily the AI characters are too stupid to run from me!

That tiger was the first character that I beat Mithanial Marr with. A friend and I tried to beat him with the Cleric and the Barbarian and couldn't touch him. I knew that there had to be a way to beat him. So I tried the lizard and the cat. I finally was able to beat him with the cat. He is a bad mother fucker at higher levels.
You know how you can guard and step back? When the cat steps back he jumps back half the screen

I played the shit out of the original multiple times over with my brother, and then my girlfriend; it's such a blast. I looked into the second one, some reviews said it was different in some way? I didn't want to buy the game and not have the same great feel that the first one had. How do you guys like the second one? Any other console titles similar?
Dark Elf Shadow Knight all the way. They don't excel at anything, but I love the versatility. <slash> <slash> "Oh, you want some disease? Come get some!"

The first one has a better flow to it it has a random map generator that is
The second game is more about character creation than story IMO. You can cast spells from your spell book, allowing access to 10 spells in combat rather than just 2. There are a few more spells and you go to level 80 instead of 50 There is a head to head option where you can battle your friend in the arena. the Ranger pwns all other characters in the arena
I like the first one better, but the second one has its advantages
