Hey, i am a noob grower, and i was out hunting and found some fall oyster mushrooms, i didnt get a thick spore print at all, its very very thin due to maggots, i was wondering if it would be worth making a syringe and injecting it into coffee grounds using the tek jar mthod? Thanks

well, some spores should work.. tissue on agar is the best way to go.

The jar would likely get contam'd from a wild spore print/tissue/culture sample unless you isolated w/agar first.

hay man make a swab of the spores ...........one pass threw the thick part of the print. then do a few agar plates with the swab.

you should get this........

after a week then you can isolate the best ones and make lc.

good way to go i think.

Here's what happens when you just squirt some LC at them, I am doing some transfers of these this week for use in LC.. but I also have started multiple poly logs of each. So, hopefully I will get some choice tissue samples and go from there

Crappy pics, they are mainly a mess anyway .. lol All clean though!

But who cares, I am impatiently waiting to do this one :headbanger:

its one thing to get a spore sample from some one and its another thing entirely to go pick one in the wild and grow it your self.

as i did this i plan to return in the spring with gallons of spawn and Johnny apple seed the whole hill.

i hope this guy does it because one gets a sort of appreciation for the mushroom that way.

FYI:

1cc Oyster LC on an un-supplemented whole coconut after a few days (its covering about 30% of the surface, it covers the end on the lower right and around):

We'll see if it fruits.
