Pictures taken with 3mp crappy phone, real camera is dead, charging as I type, will post better tonight.
This is my first time finding something this neat and first time posting on here, so if I fail, Sorry and hello.
I will get a spore print later as seeing it takes some time and I have to find a location away from my cats.
I could only find one of these in the area I dumped grass clippings.
Habitat: Backyard and some woods, neighborhood in a city - Found next to, not in or on, a pile of grass clippings of heavy shade and lots of rain lately
Gills: Very purple to a faded purple
Stem: Whitish, thick, slightly enlarged at base. ~1" wide
Cap: Grayish-purple in center to purple on edges, smooth, 2" in diameter. Edges curl under a little to underside.
Spore print color: In progress..
Bruising: no color change, but where I poked it, purple seem to darken
Location: Mid Missouri, USA (North America)

Wow, that was fast. I've started the spore print process, I'll probably post if it is ready tonight.
When I tore the stem off /cry the inside of the stem looked spongy.
Forgot smells: Smells like wet grass, lol.
Thanks for help.

You can trust YCAE on that one. No need to go through the printing process. Cook them up while they are fresh.

Well, from looking around using that name, its not the slimy one, so Lepista Nuda, and I also found Clitocybe nuda looked very similar to it according to this site:
http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Clitocybe_nuda.html
I see they are edible after cooked, but I'll be passing Might see if my parents want it, lol.
Thanks again!

Ok. You are missing out on something. Fight the inner mycophobia, bro.

Funny you mention that, I am afraid. I even used latex gloves to pick it up. I've eaten mushrooms once on a pizza and threw up later(but I was really high, so who knows).
Tips? I'm trying to expand my food palette.

Slice it up and sauté in butter with garlic, salt and fresh ground black pepper. Instant awesomeness for any good edible mushroom. You can lose the gloves, btw. Even the most poisonous mushrooms don't release their toxins through your skin. Just always wash your hands properly after handling unknown mushrooms and don't mix them with mushrooms that you have already IDd as edible and are going to consume later, because the chance that a piece of an unknown's cap, for example, might go astray and end up in your dish is too high.

Go back to that spot and find more goodies! Just remember, white spores.
*Edit: this thread is literally making my mouth water! Clitocybe is the old name. Cortinarius at that age will have a rust colored cortina. There is no need to worry, they are easily distinguishable once you see them. Look on pages 4&5 in my gallery.
