monotub or shotun chamber for brf cakes
    #11201051 - 10/07/09 02:35 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

so i was just skrewing around a couple weeks back and knocked up like 14 jars, and now they are ready to be birthed.  my question is this, last time i did a shotgun chamber the fruits turned blueish green, most likely due to moisture loss.  i was wondering if i should cover up some of the holes in the middle of the fc or go with a monotub?  just not sure which route to choose, because i didnt have that great of results with the shotgun chamber.

not at all, you should only have to hydrate your perlite once a week at most, unless you're cultivating in the desert or something. i personally hydrate when i'm trying to pin, when high humidity is desirable. then it gradually drops when fruits are forming, as it should.

my two cents: dunk your cakes after every flush. while they are soaking, hydrate your perlite.

If the rehydrate the perlite it should be fine, make sure you have some indirect wind currents on those saturdays you can not fan

yeah i am running a fan that flips on 4 times a day automatically that lightly blows a breeze onto the shotgun terrarium.  i do usually dunk them after every flush as well, usually about 10 -12 hours of soaking

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but blowing it on the terrarium will cause your RH to be too low which is why you probably experienced premature bluing last time.  Just have the fan make a nice current in the room around the chamber.  It shouldn't replace fanning but will get you through the day.

haha it was heads.  so the fan isnt blowing directly into the holes of the shotgun fc, but rather to the side, i just have the fan which is small, blowing into the closet where they are growing.
