edibles and crazies
    #11200103 - 10/07/09 01:53 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Fliegenpilz, Fly agaric, Amanita muscaria.

Armillaria mellea

--dead camera--

soup ingredients:
Laccaria proxima

Boletus edulis (maybe aereus - the cap did have a whitish bloom to it) This one was found right next to a path, which is extremely unusual, especially in Germany where many people eat wild mushrooms - some who only know Kings. Unfortunately my camera had run out of juice just before I found this huge specimen and could show it in it's natural excellence.

Armillaria mellea (also collected today from the usual spot which has been supplying us with fresh mushrooms for a week now.

My P. azurescens patches are starting to really take off right now, so you'll see some recent crazies from here soon. That they are fruiting is a bit crazy with regards to the current conditions. It was 75°F today. Oh well, it already was (and I guess we'll be back to) around 45-55°F. That certainly triggered the fruiting, because right now it is clearly much too warm.

I'll see if the light is still good when I get home and if they are worthy of being photographed yet. I counted about 10-15 new pins yesterday and it's been raining on and off. Very humid, but much too warm for this season during the past few days. I hope that the temperatures will drop back into the cold loving Psilocybe fruiting range again soon.
