No, they absolutely do not.

You just posted an ID Request because you don't know what this mushroom is, and now you are challenging a moderator and trusted identifier...

Based on what? Please don't get this wrong, I don't mean to be rude, but I suspect that this statement was based more on wishful thinking than anything else.

No worries.

Here, if you want to tell us something that would assist with the identification effort, please fill this out:

Quote:

Habitat:
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Spore print color:
Very important!

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

Alan hit it when he said take a spore print, they are one of the most neglected and one of the most important characteristics in the identification of a mushroom.

I think that is a possibility.  The stem looks weird for Armillaria, but the cap looks pretty spot on.  Not sure.
