PESH, Now With a Little Porn! Mutants? [updated 11/09/2009]

Hopefully I'll have some pics soon when the myc gets a bit bigger.

Here's the rundown,

Strain: PES Hawaiian
Media: BRF cakes, verm, 1/2 pint jars
Age: Approx. 6 days since knock-up

Five jars, no PC'ing, just used the boiling water method. I'll be getting a PC soon enough. Checked today and all five jars have several healthy spots of Mycelium, the largest is half the size of a popcorn kernel. Pretty good speed of growth, no? :wink:

UPDATE 10/31/2009

Happy Halloween! Okay, so I never got around to taking the 100% colonization shots, but I do have a teeny bit of pin porn! I had to unscrew the jar lids till they were loose to get them to finally colonize, but they did so rather quick. All five cakes are healthy and sitting in a shotgun FC. More porn to come.. :wink:



Forgive the image quality, since moving to Windows 7 I have neglected installing Photoshop.

Still waiting on the other cakes to pin. Talk about a test of patience.
In the meantime, here are a couple shots of the two mushrooms that are growing.

I had to put another update thanks to the drastic change since last night.



Hopefully it doesn't open while I'm at work, I really want the damn print! haha



No other pins yes, but the myc on the other cakes still looks healthy. They aren't bluing like this one, thank goodness. :P

Updated with pics! Still clean from green, good moisture, and no protruding smells. The last PES I attempted stalled at this point and progressed no further, likely due to the old apartment's tendency to get freezing cold at random times.

Will update again if anything changes, or at least when 100% colonization occurs. Enjoy. :smile:

Haha yeah, I was embarrassed to show that off, but oh well. :wink: That's what I get for getting the Ebay special. :rolleyes:

But it seems to be working alright. I just wish I hadn't bought to big bags of it without seeing what it was like first. :laugh:

Well it's working. :thumbup: I was curious about the size of verm myself. But all looks well. I guess it really doesn't matter! I'm on my first grow myself. Three of my twelve jars are fully colonized and I'm just waiting for the one week consolidation period til I birth them. Exciting stuff! Good luck with your grow man!  :cheers:

Small update,

all the myc in the photos I just posted yesterday has nearly doubled overnight.

Maybe I'm just being an over-excited child about this, but is this not exceptionally fast myc growth?? Haha, my last grow that completely stalled had me completely jaded I think. :wink:

Update!

Myc in all the jars is still growing at a decent rate, though a couple jars have slowed a bit over the past couple days. Night temps too low maybe? I doubt the room temps at night have drifted below 65.

Had a contam scare yesterday, a fuzzy spot appeared. Resembled cobweb. Today that spot has a nice, healthy, mycelium look to it, ropes and all.

Also, the humidity is good, the FAE is good, and damn it, I hate waiting for pins. :wink:

Yes, there is some bluing present on the cake pictured. It (obviously) didn't get  rolled very well, and I think that big dick of a shroom is tugging out all the moisture for itself. The other cakes got a better roll, and all have a good bit of verm on top getting some direct saturation frequent enough to keep moist but not standing water.

The bluing isn't bad, and it hasn't been all that long, but I think we're all familiar with that "pin already, dammit!" feeling. :wink:

I will totally be printing that fat one, but sorry, I have dibs on that one. :wink:  We'll see how my flushes go before I start promising prints, keep your fingers crossed.

Update:

I have more pins on the other cakes finally. No more spontaneous bluing of the cakes after capping them with more verm and keeping that soaked. No signs of contams, but I know I'm pushing it.

Last night I removed and printed both of the mushrooms on the early cake. I am an imbecile and have never taken the time to buy a scale, but I think I might.. eh.. sometime. :wink: So anyway, I didn't get a weight on the big daddy. Both shrooms bruised an incredible dark blue within seconds of being damaged. I chomped down -just- the large one and noticed confirmed threshold effects. Sharp vision was noted, as well as CEV's during and after sex.

Speaking of sex (apologies to those that prefer not to read about such things here, I normally don't disclose this information), I felt less inhibited, and the sex was prolonged. I'm not one to be greatly influenced by a placebo effect, and there was a definite buzz about things.

At three hours I noted no buzz, and had a ever so slight headache. Headaches are common for me when taking shrooms, even low doses.

Alright, enough of the Psych. Exp. stuff though, I thought it relevant for a grow log as someone will inevitably ask how the potency is. Seeing as this was from one medium to large fruit, I'd say the potency is just fine. I used no additives to the BRF.

More to come as the first flush (hopefully) develops. Not the best fruiting I've had, sadly. Judging from the bluing of the cakes I'm thinking that my FC might not be holding humidity as well. Time for a new hygrometer perhaps. :wink:

Note the two weirdos growing all kinds of stubby. As tiny pins I thought "maybe aborts."  But they keep growing. Just some weird friggin' mutants I guess. Noticed 5 news pins after about 6 hours today. :laugh:
