fruiting rye is new to me,and im wondering if these trays look ok and are not considered to be overlayed. They are cased with 50 /50 ,and they were incubated for 3 days and now have been in the fc for 3 days does this sound right?

Look, I'm trying to help you. You've asked a question you could answer for yourself. You want to know if those are overlayed. If you could define 'overlay', you would know whether they are or not. Consider it today's homework.

Which links you right back to here: http://www.shroomery.org/5234/What-is-overlay
Overlay is a dense, dry, hard layer of mycelium that covers and encases a substrate block, reducing or preventing free exchange of moisture and gasses.
Corey, will you answer a question for me now? If you didn't know what overlay is, why were you worried about it? Somebody warn you? Or did you read it somewhere?

why i was worrying about it is because i dont want my project to go to waste, and with my inexperience in mycology i have just picked up bits and pieces of what overlay is, but have not fully got that far yet. i plan on continuing my research in my spair time and mean while i thank you guys for helping me through until i get that time and experience!
