first bulk grow experiment

so after going through the archives, reading teks, and asking questions on here (btw thanks to everyone that helped me out with an answer) i've decided to give a try on a bulk grow. i was going to use coir and coffee but i couldnt find coir anywhere, petco might have been sold out because i was there looking and one of the employees even helped me look and we couldnt find anything, i also tried walmart and a few other stores but no luck. however because its halloween season walmart had straw on sale for $3.97 so i picked up some of that. i then mixed the straw and coffee (roughly 60% straw and 40% coffee) in a pillow case and let it sit on my stove in water for about 2 hours i kept the temp between 170 and 175. it was actually on the stove for about 3 hours because it took an hour to get the temp right, i didnt want to turn it up too high so i slowly increased it until it stayed steady. while that was pasteurizing i figured i'd need a place to put this stuff. i read some teks on using plastic tubs lined with tin foil or garbage bags but i'm trying to do this as cheap as possible so i took a styrofoam cooler and lined it with a plastic bag and some tape. i'll punch some holes in the lid with a screw driver rather then the cover with tin foil and use a fork technique. i then took some colonized cakes and broke them up into bags. right now i'm just waiting for the straw and coffee to drain and cool, well its drained pretty good, i already rang it out by hand a couple times but its still warm, then i'll probably go about 4 inches deep and alternate layers between the substrate and the crumbled cakes. i honestly dont know how well this will work, but i figured i'd try it feel free to chime in with what you think i should or shouldnt do, but i'll keep this up to date with what happens. heres some pics.
like i said i'm trying to do this as cheap as possible, so heres the cost...
styrofoam cooler - $0 it was laying around left over at my moms work i actually have like 3 of them
coffee grounds - $0 again my moms work, shes a chef for a hotel and they go through a lot of coffee so i asked her to start bringing it home with her, its usually 2-3 pounds a day.
garbage bag - $0 didnt fit the garbage can at my moms work so she brought them home
pillow case - $0??? it was in a bag for rags, maybe cost a dollar back in the 1970's
water - $0 used the neighbors hose
straw - $0 stole from walmart otherwise $3.97
electric to use the stove - $idk what do they charge for a couple hours on temp setting number 2.1?
colonized cakes - priceless, actually on my first grow i invested about $80, verm, brf, jars, plastic and duct tape to build a grow room, shotgun terrarium, fruting chamber, etc. it all came out to about $80 and believe me it has paid for itself and then some, investing that really beats the hell out of paying $25-$40 an eighth from a dealer around here because they're hard to come by apparently.
mountain dew - $1.49
pizza - well the tag said it was $6.25 for a 6 pack BUT i believe its priceless, it was delicious, cooked while i was prepping the substrate to pasteurize, and i am no longer hungry.
anyway, i think i got out of this for pretty cheap, i still have half a bottle of mountain dew, and 4 pizza's left in the freezer.
any input, negative or positive, is welcome
ps, just in case i'd be at risk for getting banned for stealing from walmart, i didnt really steal the straw from there, i paid for it, i probably couldve just filled my pockets with some though because i have a ton left over but i guess it'll get used either way.

started another one, but with this one i used coffee, coir, and a little bit of straw. cooked at 170 for just over an hour to pasteurize then added some crumbled cakes in.
i'm going to start another one tomorrow sometime, probably with a little gypsum in it, i gotta find some first though, if i cant find it then i'll still be starting another one.
