if the insurance companies win...
    #11198191 - 10/07/09 02:39 AM (8 years, 1 month ago)

watch the "mansions" ad from healthcareforamericanow.org ..

i fully agree with the ad.. but my guesstimate is that  >90% of americans feel differently..and to varying degrees..sympathize w/ united health care and hemsley.. which is the topic of our poll...as the results come in..remember that even zappa&co are considerably more liberal than mainstream americans...
whose side are you on?...
You may choose only one
hemsley is GOD...
hemsley and UHC at the very least deserve respect as individuals...
UHC/hemsley is a piece of shit...
al-Q should be given a 747 packed w/ explosives..on the condition that UHC/hemsley is the target...

If Obamacare passes, the insurance companies win.
If Obamacare fails, the insurance companies win.

I fail to see your point, given that no matter what happens, the insurance companies win.  Until congress, and the president, quit taking massive bribes from the insurance company lobbies, and actually fix the broken system, rather than tossing more money at it, the insurance companies are going to continue to win.

I actually agree with Seuss.  The only overhaul that can fix the system while reducing cost for the people is the single payer solution.

Well, we disagree there.  The single payer system is simply writing a blank check to the healthcare industry signed by the taxpayer.  Sure, it gets rid of the problems created by the insurance industry, but it does nothing to fix the overall problems associated with the healthcare system as a whole.  The single payer solution fits into the "tossing more money at the problem" category.  The entire industry needs to be revamped, from insurance reform, to incentives for more healthcare professionals, to limits on liability, to fixing a broken patent system, to reworking the FDA (to rid it of corruption), to rules on advertising, to making it easier to get new drugs to the market, to ... The single payer system does nothing to address any of the real issues and instead burdens the taxpayer while rewarding a greed driven industry.

I didn't know there was any proposed legislation written on how it would be implemented.  If it doesn't address the real issues, then I agree with you.  I would expect it would, however.

There is no "single payer system" in any of the legislation currently before Congress.  You are discussing salt mining on Mars.

And as much as we are jealous and hate somebody who makes a few million a year, redistributing his wealth would not help the situation at all.

if his wealth is redistributed to me, I think it'll help my situation

no need to hate him because he makes bank, I'd love to ask him how he
managed to make that kind of cash so I can have propaganda videos about
me popping up all over the intarwebs as well

any kind of meaningful healthcare reform means redistributing his and his cohorts' wealth...as it stands now..our wealth is being redistributed upwards..to hemsley &co..and the latest baucus bill would make it much worse...
