I have to pc for an hour and a half, should I load all 8 jars, or just the 4 I'm gonna PC...and what should I do with the grain or jars I'm not PCing this round? Thanks.

Remember that no matter what you do, the unused berries won't store for ever so - - -
I would load all of the jars, the ones that aren't getting PCd right now should go in the fridge. The cold temperature will help slow germination of endospores et al which wouldn't matter after they PC but the cold temp would also help hold the moisture wihtout letting them get too saturated too fast.

i would BOIL the non PCd jars to kill the grain and keep it from sprouting (seal jars with water tight lids, and boil the submerged in a pot for an hour or so)

I've never seen simmered rye berries sprout, myself. But I simmer for 35 minutes or so. I've had some sitting as long as three days before PC'ing after that simmer but never sprout.

Fridge? Boil? If you are just going to PC them right after the first batch is done, Id just get them all set up w/ lids and foil and have them on the counter for the 1.5 hrs that the first batch is going for, then do round 2.

Good point, I should have asked, when did you expect to PC the other jars? If right after the first jars then I totally agree with ManaShaman.

I would do all 8 jars in 2 cycles in the 1 day if you can, or do 4 then once you get up do the next 4. I dont like the idea of moist grain sitting about growing bacteria for any length of time.
Sterilisation is never 100% complete, the more nastys in the jar, the more chance theres going to be survivors.
