Rand Paul Shaking Things Up in Kentucky Senate Race.
    #11197470 - 10/07/09 12:41 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Dr. Rand Paul, the son of Congressmen Ron Paul, is running for the open US Senate seat in Kentucky. He is a ophthalmologist and founder of Kentucky Taxpayers United, a antitax group.  He is the only true conservative in the race and is shaking things up in Kentucky. The primary there is gaining a lot of excitement and national interest.

Rand Paul raised over 1 million dollars in the last quarter.

Rasmussen has just release the results of a new poll. You can view them here.

Here is what Joe Arnold of WHAS11.com reports:

Perhaps what continues to be the most significant story in all three major polls released so far (Survey USA and Daily Kos Research 2000 the other two) is that Republican Rand Paul is no fluke. He is now armed with a poll that shows him beating one Democratic candidate and within striking distance of the other. Paul also raised $1 million in the third quarter, and judging by Trey Grayson’s urgent appeals to donors in the days leading up to the Sept. 30th deadline, the Republican Secretary of State may not have matched Paul’s receipts.

You can view Rand Paul's stance on the issues at his webpage: www.randpaul2010.com
however you might be hard pressed to find his opponent's, Trey Grayson stance on the issues.

Re: Rand Paul Shaking Things Up in Kentucky Senate Race. [Re: bugabuga420]

From Reuters:

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--(Business Wire)--
Dr. Rand Paul has raised more money in the third quarter than any other Kentucky
Senate Candidate. Dr. Paul brought in $1,010,668 to beat his primary opponent,
Trey Grayson, by nearly $400,000 and the leading Democrat nearly 2-1.

Despite announcing his official campaign midway through the quarter on August
12, Dr. Paul was able to leverage strong grassroots support and attract over
14,000 individual contributions averaging less than $75 each. Grayson`s totaled
just $642,857 despite an inside the beltway fundraiser thrown by 23 sitting
United States Senators that charged lobbyists $500 per plate.

"Rand Paul may not be the choice of the political insiders and special
interests, but results like this show he is the people`s choice," said campaign
manager David Adams. "Rand is leading the way against deficit spending and
bailout deals coming at us from both political parties. When they say they will
be different, Rand's opponents just have no credibility on the issues people
care about the most. Rand means what he says and that's why we are seeing this
progress in the Republican primary."

If he doesn't win, something is wrong with the system.

Definitely.

If you're from KY, vote on paper.  Not in the machine.

OOOOOOOH yummy.  Videos, I love videos.  I have endless amounts of time to scan a bunch of chaff for germ and then love the ability to not actually quote from the source.  How delicious.

You have nothing intelligent to say that would refute what either Dr.Paul's have to say.

I think Paul senior was the only politician that had a feasible plan to pay off the national debt.

Go ahead and attempt to argue that massive crippling debt is somehow beneficial to a nation when it is an extreme detriment to an individual.

Either make a token attempt at refuting their standpoints so that I may expose your imbecility or cease your pompous windbaggery!

I don't have anything to say about what Dr. Paul has to say in those videos because I am not going to devote one second to watching them.  If you want me to consider what he has to say put it in text so I can read it at my leisure, skim it where appropriate and then quote it when he says something egregiously stupid, which, given what I have read from him in the past will be in fairly short order.

I will say this for the Paulnuts.  They are devoted and relentless.  Fringe nutcases but very devoted.  Almost Jonestownian.

Thomas Jefferson said that central banks are more dangerous than standing armies.

It is indeed the internal threat of central bankers that is more dangerous than external table-cloth head wrapping terrorists.

You have no refutation of anything the Paul's have had to say.  You can not even debate the economics.

Thomas Jefferson owned slaves and fucked them.  Alexander Hamilton was a Founding Father too.

I have refuted several things the Pauls have to say.  When I read them.  I repeat, I am not watching any videos for the reasons stated.  They are intrusive and unquotable.

I can also debate the economics of the good Dr.s Paul.  In fact, I have mopped the floor with you as their spokesman.

You trust the government funny money.  You clearly do not understand economics.

Once again, you can not tell me why government should have a monopoly on legal tender.

you are more than free to choose not to watch a video due to any ineptitude of your choosing, but to enter a thread with the sole purpose of complaining about your own inability to sit and watch a video (and somehow shift blame to someone else for not writing it out in text for you) is simply laughable.

furthermore, you then continue to embarrass yourself by assuming that you somehow already magically know the content of the video, and begin to debate and form arguments off absolutely ZERO KNOWLEDGE of said content.  your predictability is pathetic.

here's a suggestion.  grab a beer, chill the fuck out, and watch a 10min video on the internet.  at the end, you will find yourself to still be alive and well, and you may have learned a thing or two.

No, I have had a problem with videos for a long time and precisely for the reasons I noted:
1.  You can't skim them.  They are laden with chaff
2.  They take fucking forever.  Text is much faster.  I have a life.
3.  You can't quote them and fisk them unto death.

I eagerly await your quote of mine wherein I say I know what's in the videos.  I do know that I have hammered the daft bint Ron several times in the past.  These true believers are a scary kool-aid drinking lot.

Your first two suggestions are excellent.  The most rational thoughts I have seen form the Paulians yet.
I am not watching any fucking videos.  Even if my computer could play them without stalling every 20 seconds.  Which it can't do.  Still, I aint doing no videos.  Ever.  Further, I might point out that you added exactly ZERO content to the vid.  Way to go with that your own mind thing.  Do you like zombie movies?

i don't care if you don't watch the videos.  but here's the thing, if you choose not to do so, just shut up.  that's it.  don't bitch about how its a video.  just shut up, and stay out of the thread.  it's not that hard.  you can do it.

You are being lazy.

The Congress and Woodrow Wilson handed the money supply over to a private bank.  Said private bank financed Wilson's presidential campaign.

The money supply has been hijacked since 1913.

This has wreaked economic havok upon the American economy and "helped" us amass debt & social welfare obligations that are not remotely sustainable.

You dodged the question out of intellectual cowardice.

What someone else did has nothing to do with your currently unconstitutional pipe dream.

I answered your stupid question.

The government should have a monopoly on legal tender because for it not to have one would be a violation of the Constitution.
