the fly agaric brought me here
    #11197022 - 10/06/09 11:39 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

It's funny sometimes to take a step back and notice how everything that happens is interconnected.

I remember when I was pretty young still (middle school probably), I read about amanita muscaria a bit.  Even then, it fascinated me.  I knew about the mushrooms considered to be your typical "magic mushrooms".  But these held a special interest to me since I remember reading that the effects were substantially different.

NYE 2006 I got some coke from a friend.  He's been there for me the times when I really needed him.  But we've had our share of difficulties too.  In any case, I had a lot of issues with my sinuses back then.  By the time I did this gram to myself, I was pretty much in agony.  The shower afterwards only helped minimally and my nose was pretty much fucked for the next few days.

I went through a frequently tripping phase well prior to that (late 90's/early 00's).  But, for the most part anyway, drifted away from it.  But that coke experience made me think that there still had to be some more beneficial things out there that I'd yet to try.

I got curious and started doing some searches.  The searches lead me to amanita muscaria, salvia and this place.  Now I have this whole extended family and it's all thanks to my friend, coke and curiosity.

I've gotten so much from this site since then.  But I've realized that I've only scratched the surface.  There's so much more that could be given and attained.  And I'm almost ashamed to say that I've only been to 2 gatherings so far.  Sure, I've met a good handful of you guys.  But there's a lot of you that I could stand to know better too.

The first few times I used them I bought them from online vendors.  I think I ate like a half ounce the first time (way more than you should really need).  Just gobbled 'em.

But lately I've been going out on hunts and I find that they really are better when you find them yourself.  As to whether it's better to apply heat and dry them out or eat them fresh, it's hard for me to say.

But since I'm not a big fan of possibly eating live bugs and shit, I like to put a couple caps in a dehydrator.  Then, when I'm going to partake, I'll soak them in water, boil down the water to a shot and drink it and cook the caps up with something (eggs or whatever).

to check them for bugs simple break it into fourths and if bugs have been crawling in them you will see the holes they made. i learned that from working with wine caps cause they have a way higher chance also amanita in certain areas are more prone to getting  incests if one area has alot of them when they grow back that samea area will probally be loaded with bugs too

Yeah, I guess the insects don't bug me too much.  Extra protein I guess.

I just like to dry mine out when possible so I don't feel compelled to munch em on the spot.

This thread totally didn't go in the direction I hoped it might.  Was hoping people would share how they came to this place. :tongue2:

The Ethnobotanical Garden caught my fancy... but I came here for mushroom teks and oddly enough... I have become obsessed with the so called Soma, Amanita muscaria... hence all the links in my signature!
:regularshroom:

Any body have any suggestions for a reputable vendor to purchase A. muscaria from? Drop me a PM, would ya...

My vendor is the ground. It always hooks it up cheap.

I'm a big fan of fly agarics, though I'm not convinced they're the Vedic soma.

unfortunately, I live in an area where the Fly Agaric is scarce... next to impossible to find them in the wild... Otherwise, I'd just pick them myself.

At least you guys have cubes there.
