    #11195891 - 10/06/09 08:46 PM (8 years, 9 months ago)

im going to be growing a few plants but have no funds for store soil. If I bring some from outdoors how would I go about sterilizing it? I dont want unwanted bugs, insects or bateria etc being near my plants. ive read nukeing might work?

Just nuke it, I've done that before and had no problems. Mist the soil (keep it slightly wet so it doesn't catch fire) and stick it in a microwave safe dish on high for 10 minutes. If you prefer to use the stove, bake at 250F for 45 mins.

Hehe, been a victim of soil fire as well, have you? Lmao.

Peat seems especially susceptible.

Moist soil in the microwave FTW!
