The subject of meth.
How can you tell if it causes brain damage?
I know various official sources have claimed brain damage on many drugs.
I know a few people that have tried it.

Actually, we know how the addiction works. The addiction itself is very easily considered brain damage. You can be clean for years and never really be happy again just because your brain is too damaged to have feelings of euphoria without a giant rush of serotonin or some sort of drug that clears the receptors and makes them not function (like meth).

My biggest misconception was that they weren't worth the time and effort to question them enough.

i always though LSD was a drug mainly used by crackhead bums, and if I were to try acid, then I would turn all nasty looking and see satanic creatures and zombies and crazy flashbacks. I thought you need to inject it too.

..then I started listening to some good music, and my life turned around

I took my first puff of maryjane in 7th grade while playing football in an alley with some friends. We used an unrolled lollipop stick for paper. I thought I might turn into a thug after that. Man I was fucking stupid

FUCKING D.A.R.E!!

"D- i wont do drugs

A- wont have an attitude

R- i will respect myself

E- i will educate me

I WILL DAAAARE"

I will never forget that song or the black frisbee they gave everyone after graduating that course.

They shouldn't have told the kids to do this if they planned on keeping them off the droogs by keeping them ignorant.

Growing up everyone would say that acid made your brain bleed and made you go crazy.  Everyone also said that weed made you stupid.

Now that I'm thinking about it I'm surprised that I even tried weed when I did, all I knew then was what I had been told by uninformed people.  I thought it would make me stupid if I smoked for a long time.  It was stupid of me to try it without doing my research first.  I always do research now.

I first searched for information on weed online because I wanted to keep smoking it but I was concerned with addiction, health effects, and mental effects.  This led me to the wealth of information online today.  Now I can't come up with an excuse for NOT smoking weed.

But ive found thats way wrong, cause i never feel like eating while im tripping.

EDIT: And I thought weed was a white powder until summer before high school...

LOL that was funny. I thought drugs were bad of course. And i knew this kid who thought a "bowl" of weed was a cereal bowl filled of chronic LOL.

as a kid my best friend was quite the stoner from the 3rd grade on. clearly he enjoyed it, but he was a dick to be around when high, and though he was very smart he didn't apply himself at all in school. he dropped acid in the 6th grade. he was utterly fascinated with it, and i found myself fascinated too. but he seems to have believed in the "stays in your spine" theory and variants, and claimed he could trigger flashbacks by shining a pen light into his eyes. perhaps he had HPPD. that scared me.

when he got into coke, i dropped contact with him. last i heard he was in prison on PCP-related charges. didn't graduate. what a fucking waste.

same with another childhood friend: coke turned him into a dick, or liberated his inner dick, and he ended up in prison.

actually i knew several more kids whose fucked up lives only got much more deeply fucked after they started using drugs of various kinds. (yes, i know they are not all the same, so 'drugs' is seldom a helpful label).

i never tried any scheduled substance before age 40. pot and mushrooms. i really don't enjoy pot at all; i tried like a dozen times. mushrooms: i love them and they love me. they are my spiritual defibrillator. gonna try a salvia quid soon.

i believed that mushrooms made your brain bleed, and that you smoked the leaves of pot well into my 30s.
