Time Machine Hypotheticals
    #11195481 - 10/06/09 05:41 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

You may only use the machine one time.

Scenario 1: You may go back in time to any period in the past for a month for historical research/verification of events. Where and when do you go and why?

Scenario 2: You may go back in time, but can never return to the present. Where, when & why?

I want to be an Indian Native American before whitey came over here. They didn't have horses then so I would like to bring some horses.

1: Prehistoric times to investigate and witness the diversity of protohumans.  Tough to think of one place, where ever there was the most diversity of protohuman species.

2:  I wouldn't, Im happy where I am.  Maybe Id go back a day or two as a cop out.

The advent of the horse in Indian culture dramatically increased warfare between the tribes.

I remember as a kid I'd fantasizing going back in time to the Roman era with a tank and a couple of submachine guns.  Back then before I realized that the tool is only as good as the user, I figured I'd easily rule the world.   I'd be Caesar!

Nowadays I realize that going back in time permantly would be a bit of a booboo on my part, what with the glasses, hearing aids, and knee operations.

I've got no interest in scenario two to observe human culture, so I'd probably go back to some time before humans transformed the planet in their image.  Maybe .....

nah, I'll just stick with staying home and waiting for somebody else to do the deed.  I'll just sit back and absorb the feedback.
