Really curious since I've not seen either of these guys before I don't think, and they both have a greenish/blueish hue on the stem base.
1.) Habitat: Growing at base of dead upright conifer Cap: About one inch wide, dark brown with some roughness towards the slightly raised center. Gills: Tan colored Stem: Somewhat thin, greenish hue towards base Spore print: White
2.) Location: Found growing from rotting tree, some sort of hardwood most likely. Cap: A little over an inch wide, varying shades of brown in ring formations. Dry, mostly smooth Gills: Creamy Stem: Somewhat thick, widening at base, with greenish hues towards bottom. Ring towards cap. Spore print: In the works
I'm hoping due to the consistency of coloration that the greenish blue is actually part of the mushroom, and not just something growing on it :P
No actives have a white spore print (I assume that's what you're hunting for because you mentioned bruising multiple times). I think the second are honeys, and they will have a white spore print too. There are only a few actives in OH, and they look nothing like this.
*Not sure about the first. Beautiful mushrooms though.

I'm not looking for actives, but am excited about the concept of finding them because they're so sought-after, if that makes much sense. I'm not a user, but the idea of finding something that so many people search for is thrilling to me
Also, I changed my userinfo to more accurately describe my location. So really, it's southern michigan and northern ohio mushrooms :P (Which I think rules out some of the 'found in Ohio' but doesn't add any 'found in michigan.' go figure.)
I have, and I've been keeping a very careful eye out for them! That's actually my big goal is to find some :P I thought my #1 looked a little similar, but obviously not right. But I had to get confirmation on that, because I know all of them can vary a whole lot. :P
I did find some Gyms, but I couldn't stomach the taste and gave up quickly on that idea.
