valium hot-springs?
    #11193684 - 10/06/09 03:13 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

i've been told that there are a few hot-springs (in nevada, i think?) that naturally contain diazepam or some chemically similar compound; however, i can't find any info online about this and am wondering if it is just an urban legend?

while i'm not a big fan of benzos/benzo-derivative drugs for recreational purposes, the thought of sitting naked in what is already one of nature's most relaxing environments getting high off of nature's pharmies is an appealing one :yesnod:

That sounds like some kind of urban myth. I've never heard of such a thing, and benzos would be a fairly complex organic molecule, not naturally occurring through an inorganic process the way minerals would. Such a compound, in such an environment, would have to come from some sort of biotic vector like bacteria or fungus in the water. It could be possible, but I kind of doubt it...

Now, there could be high levels of lithium in the water, and that might have some kind of neurological effect...

I'd write it off as a legend like the Loveland Frog...

this i have heard of. there are also places where nitrous oxide occurs naturally. when someone finds a hydromorphone spring, be sure to let me know.

ive heard lithium.  not valium
the lithium thing is real and ive experienced it
as if hot springs in general arent relaxing enough, i could tell there was something else goin on.  and then was told by fellow hot springers and people in the area about it
you can look it up online
many a natural hot spring contains levels of lithium

that's probably what i was thinking too. probably got confused at naturally occuring valium with sedating and lithium springs.

Another urban legend demystified. Now, if we could just get to the bottom of the story about the traveling salesman who wakes up in a bathtub full of ice with one kidney missing...

It's just a myth told to discourage men from cheating on their wives while away on business.
