    #11186716 - 10/05/09 12:32 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

OK I'm Looking for one simple answer to my?? I've taken a wild cubensis print from the Louisiana area and worked with it over the past couple months to adjust it for indoor cultivation so far this cubensis still exhibits different features during flushes but is as good as I'm gonna get it!! So My ? Question ? Is If I want to share some prints with the community do I simply call it P. Cubensis or can I attach a name to It?? Thanks for any replies....e

Good stuff!  How exactly did you isolate it?

--------------------
Did he dream about dragons? Did he dream about deer? Did he whisper  he names of friends who were near?
What songs did they play, and how far away? Why did he whisper, why did she scream?
What does the sound of a screen door mean?
Who talks on the hill? Who goes to the cellar, can you feel the chill? Where does the river, when will the wind?
How far are the mountains? Where do they end? Why would the church?
Did the service begin? Tell me who died, and tell me who cried.
Help me hide in the skin of a deer, my zippered-up bag in the mouth of a stag so swiftly I go through rows of does,
it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows all over the hill where the green grass grows.

It took me 3 transfers to clean up the print then I did a G2G transfer grew out the 1st gen. cloned the biggest fruit took ms from that grew that out 3 more times to get a mushroom that grew over 3 inches tall..then 2 more MS trials before I finally got a nice flush that I'm happy with!!..just a little work!! next I've got a wild print from florida I am going to clean up and work on!! ..e edited because I made myself unclear on the transfers earlier...e

He msg'd me telling me he had to goto skool.  So you may have to wait for an answer.  All he told me that the size of the fruits are very large.  It sounds like the genetics are unstable.  I am going to try to isolate then bring to fruit for 3-4 generations see if I can stabilize it a bit.  Or does anyone have any ideas on how to properly domesticate a wild cube?

I ate 2 grams and tripped nutz!! although I have a low tolerance..They have a very visual trip and the stems bruise green/blue even when lightly handled..-Truskool- is correct on the generations I've figured it to the 5th. gen. of MS but just wanted to get some prints out to expand this strain, also since I was so happy to finally get them to grow some nice fruits!!.. more prints will be sent out to random people as I work more on this strain and get feedback!! Thanks...e

I asked workman and here is what he said

Quote:

Ah, thats pretty simple actually.  You need to do around 6 sequential generations from multispore selecting for the best specimen at each generation.  By the 6th generation, almost all of the heterozygosity will be lost and the strain stable.  The early generations are the most important for selection.  Heterozygosity is reduced by 50% for each generation by multispore, so you can mathematically see how this works.

Generation zero - wild specimen heterozygosity 100%
F1 multispore of wild specimen 50%
F2 multispore of F1 specimen 25%
F3 ....12.5%
F4 ....6.25%
F5 ....3.12%
F6 ....1.56%

and so on.

After the F6 generation there is so little heterozygosity (variability) left that all the mushrooms generated by multispore are virtually identical and the strain is considered stable.  It almost acts like a single clone since all the multispore strains are so similar and do not antagonize each other within a multispore tray.

I hope this makes sense.

does that help:shrug:

not a lot of experience with this, but have a decent bit of agar experience with isolating strains from ms, making clones, etc.  would be very interested in playing around with some if you have an extra print to spare.  Everyone could do what they can with it, and mix/match/trade their own substrain of your strain (is this right terminology?  mmm temazepam...).

Yeah Thanks so much For the info I've read to isolate through 6-7 strains with multi-spore but It's now on it's 5 Gen. so it's fairly stable for indoor growing..I've got a couple people working on a test run from this generation for me.. I will ask that if they have good luck!! to spread the spores around!! also after I get through my own 6th. generation I will be trying to flood the Shroomery with these prints..Good days..and better nights....e
