handheld vaporizers

I understand that there are big ol fancy-schmancy machina vaporizers that'll smoke this shit for ya an tell ya how high you're getting / and I know there's a whole plethora of other oddball looking shit out there that's designed for smoking all sorts of other wild crap too

...BUT...

I happened across a sorta oddball looking fella the other day that looked pretty much like every other standard issued $2.99 anodized piece of crap out there...except...that the proverbial 'elbow' piece that connects the bowl to the shaft was actually made of glass

and this got me thinking

cause I've seen pictures of bong-esque sorta looking vaporizers that look pretty much just like any other bong, except for the fact that you light the 'bowl' from the bottom...and I've seen ASCII drawings of the type of pipe I'm currently in search of, which look a helluva a lot like this one with the glass elbow

am I wrong in assuming that the reason it's glass is so you can light it from underneath :what:
