Spreading Spores

So if someone wanted to spread spores of a woodlover species, how should they go about doing it?
More specifically -
I have a nice print, it has more than what I need on it(it's a nice size). So I don't want half of it to sit dormant, nor do I want to waste it's potential. It's a hard-wood loving species. Here in the NE there's only 2 months or so left of semi-cold temperatures until it's winter time.
Would there be a good chance of success of just wiping small amounts from a print on selected rotting logs/trees(that have not been completely colonized by other fungii)? I figure I'd rub little pieces off into cracks and crevices of the wood, so that the wind wouldn't take them away. It's been moist outside so the wood should be proper for inoculation.
If it did colonize the wood a little before winter, would the winter kill the myc, or preserve it until next spring?
Sorry if this isn't really Advanced, but I don't think anyone would respond or know much about it in the Cultivation forum. Thank you for your time, and opinions.

I have read anecdotal reports that this works (might work).

Make prints on your clothing or hat and take a walk in the woods. Seems very unscientific, but essentially this is how it is done in nature.

make a big or a bunch of small LCs and go around inoculating things.

Mix the spores into a spray bottle of water and walk through the woods spraying a mist of spore-water on desirable locations.

I've heard of people on the west coast inoculating places with woodlover lc and them coming back the next year to find mushies. I need to try this out myself, it sounds like a good idea.

Paul Stamets makes chainsaw oil with spores of wood loving species suspended within.

After cleaning wild collected mushrooms I take the large bowl they were rinsed in ( which now contains millions of spores) and throw the water/spore solution on shredded bark I use for landscaping.

I'd love to get a hold of a tek on how to make that chain-saw oil. It would be just as cool to have an oil you could dip on drill bits.
Therien that's really smart and eco friendly.
The reason why I would actually be afraid to use LC at least for a wood-lover is because the LC might not have enough energy to eat it's way into the wood. I've recently been reading up on wood-lover teks and it seems LC -> Wood isn't really a secure thing, that's why people will do MS/LC -> Grain Medium -> Wood Chips. Correct me if I am wrong, I want to learn haha.
So I'm thinking spores/spore-water or colonized grain/live-culture/stem-butt(mycelia attached) would be the most ideal ways to spread a wood-lover.

The reason I think lc is pretty secure, at least more secure than just spore water, is because once the spores have germinated and started to form a mycelium network, even if that network is under water, it should be capable of colonizing wood. At least I think.

Your actually right. I just read a thread where it is prefered for a wood-lover LC to have saw dust inside of it. I was un-aware of this! But now it makes more sense with the LC for sure
