What are your thoughts on being high on the job?

If you're not opposed, what are your thoughts on SMOKING or otherwise ingesting substances on the job?
I've always thought it's fine to come into work high if you know you can function and peoples lives or delicate equipment/systems aren't depending on you. Stuff like fast food and rental clerks are all fair game in my opinion.
Now, if you work at say a dental office or hospital that's a big fucking no no in my mind.
Actually getting high at work is kind of a gray area in my mind. The above mentioned low-level jobs are whatever but if you work at a respectable place I don't really think you should be smoking while you're working on the job.
Thoughts?

I deliver pizza and smoke on the job almost every day. It's the perfect job to do so, and it's only part time while I go to school. I drive fine while i'm high, and I don't let the thin crust pizza slide around and get all fucked to hell.
I think if you can handle it, and not show that you are stoned, or high I think it's fine in a non-life threatening job, or important job, high paying jobs.

If you are a low level job, going to work is fine. If you are a doctor, it is not. Same token I don't think you should be on ANY substance if lives are at stake.
I do however think getting high WHILE at work is wrong. You are being paid to do your job, not to get high. Obviously if you have a job like a delivery boy I would say its a different story. The main issue is this, if you fuck up while high it will be blown out of proportion and I think everyone should do their best not to tarnish the already horrible name of this plant.

At my job I was pretty much trained to get baked. A lot of the time I'm doing mindless tasks like watering or carrying flowers, and I basically have to be high. Sometimes though I have to run a crew of people and keep track of numbers and whatnot, so I generally will not burn if I know I'm gonna be doing that sort of thing. In the slow season I really don't do much of anything except get stoned....it's not a bad gig.

A friend of mine smokes a bowl before his work every morning and seems to be perfectly fine getting on with his job. On the other hand, there is no way in hell that I could comprehend getting high before work. I wouldn't be able to function well enough to carry out my work efficiently.
I normally just look forward to smoking a bowl or two once my day is done and I can finally chill out for the rest of the night.

My last job the manager didn't care if we burned discreetly on the job. Obviously if you have a job where that's not tolerated it isn't a good idea.

I used to work for this electrical company and we would toke up all of the time. One summer we worked a job that required an hour and a half ride everyday, so of course the 4 of us got blazed out of our minds the way there and back. Occasionally we would take a smoke break at lunch as well.
It really depends on your job though and your own abilities to function while high.
As for other substances, I would say not cool.

I agree that it's ok for a lot of jobs, I used to pack supermarket shelves and I was the fastest worker there while blazed... just totall zonk myself out then go auto-pilot packing shit at light speed.
Now I drive a courier van, we have roadside drug testing so I can't smoke anyway.

I have a job tutoring people, and I find it helps me come across as less arrogant, more relaxed, and generally compassionate and accepting. If I wasn't high I'd probably sound like a stuck up bitch. It also helps me to communicate my suggestions for their work in a way that is clearer to them (i.e. easier vocabulary, slower speech).
Being stoned for work with people is very important.

My original name was actually my first name, thus I changed it.
I don't blame you though, I made some pretty dumb posts back then.

Also, it is very important to be loaded on painkillers and xanax for some activities. Like night class after a full day of work.

I smoke and deliver pizza. I don't get baked, but i smoke enough to have some fun. There use to be alot of smokers here, but im the only one that does atm. We use to smoke out back. No one cared at all. We all did our job better after a bowl anyways.
If this was my last job there would be no way i would.

I really dislike being high at work, I constantly feel like everyone knows, and although thats usually not the case it still just bothers me.
Also I feel that when I'm high at work the hours go by much slower.

If I worked with a bunch of people who were against it, I wouldn't be able to do it.

i just kinda have a moral objection to it. i dont think i'm quite as productive when i'm high and thats kinda cheating my employer a bit.
i do however, have a tradition of coming to work baked on my last day of a job
