Should we start allowing people to vote online?
    #11181720 - 10/04/09 07:13 PM (8 years, 11 months ago)

I think WAY more people would vote if we could do that. Is the only reason we don't do this is because of fraud?

I thought popular vote didnt even matter? elections depend solely on electoral votes right?

Nope.  Only the presidential election is determined by electoral votes.

No.  It would unfairly enfranchise voters with computers and internet connections.  Also there is no way to verify ID.  Add to that the tremendous uproar that requiring ID is too expensive for some voters and there is no way it will, can or should ever happen.  It is an astonishingly bad idea.

How is it unfair to making voting vastly easier for relatively rich people than for poor people?  Are you fucking joking?

And what would prevent me from voting 57 times on line?  Nothing.  Forget it

Well paint me red and call me Shirley, Zappaisgod and I finally agree on something.

On line voting would favor people with computer access and know how.  Without any ID check it would be difficult to keep the system honest, and I like a paper trail with my vote.  Which is why I never use the machine when I go to vote.

Also what purpose would it really serve.  Absentee voting is in most if not all states, so people can vote from home as it is.
