East Texas ID Help
    #11180965 - 10/04/09 05:13 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

These are growing in my pasture.  Someone on here is bound to know what they are immediately.  The description below is icing, please see the photos.
There may be 2 to 3 kinds of mushrooms here, but I am not sure.  I tried to take the best photos that I could and I think you will find that they are very clear and I added my fingers for scale.

Thanks!

Habitat:
Grows in pasture in well composted cow dung (see photos)

Gills:
light blue with dark gray to black spots

Stem:
1-5 inches, 2-3mm in diameter

Cap:
Please see the photos

Spore print color:
gray

Bruising:
Top of cap bruises darker brown, bottom bruises blue

Other information:
No scent.

If they bruise blue for sure, then they are probably active Panaeolus sp.

I don't know that much about them though so wait for more info...

East Texas has been invaded with pan antillarum this year..
A Cope will blue rather fast and they also have an opalescent hue to them. There spore print will be quite dark as in black dark..
Here is a good pic of some bluing East Texas Copes for you to get the picture!

none of the mushrooms pictured above are cope/pan cyanescens, after seeing  both species for a long time its not hard to tell the difference. IF you notice he also says the gills are "light blue". perhaps he is color blind but most likely just wishful thinking

I really don't know a thing about mushrooms.  They have a bluish cast, but they are tan to dark brown/black.  The large one in the photo actually has a nearly black bottom.  They're really varied but plainly the same type.
