    #11179944 - 10/04/09 11:41 AM (14 years, 6 months ago)

Just picked one up last week. This phone is so sik. I hate apple so I was defiantly not getting an iphone. I think these are nicer in some aspects anyways. Technology FTW

Grab the top of your slider while holding on to the bottom.  Twist.  That ever-so-small bit of wiggle shouldn't happen.

The Hero is an Android (google) phone.  There are something like 10,000 apps for android, compared to a handful for the Pre.

Also, the "sense UI" offers a sweet user interface which is way cooler IMO.  It also can directly sync with MS outlook, can capture video, has expandable memory and a higher MP camera.

In all honesty, it comes down to preference, but as long as you are within your 30-day "no questions asked" period, I'd at least check it out.

One of the things that I really like about the pre though is that it has a real keyboard. I really don't like typing on a touchscreen for some reason.

Yeah, some people like "hard" keyboards.  I found the Pre's to be usable, but a tad small for my liking.

The other thing I didn't care for was the slider setup.  I send a ton of texts per day.  Having to pick the phone up with two hands, slide it open, text, then slide it back closed seems like a lot of work.

The actual look of the Pre is also impressive, but I thought it felt just a bit light, and had some movement/play/give that lent it a "cheap" feeling.

The biggest issue though was the software, or lack thereof.  For my work, I use MS outlook quite a bit, and the fact that it couldn't sync was probably the biggest software issue IMO.

EDIT: you can youtube plenty of videos of the HTC hero to see the interface in action.
