Recovery from diabetic shock (mycelium)
    #11180039 - 10/04/09 02:02 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Liquid culture (apple juice) made from an agar transfer; LC displayed much vigor and vitality; LC injected into 5 Brown Rice Flower jars;

Diabetic shock:
Mycelium growing in a high-sugar medium (LC) is transferred to a low-sugar medium (BRF); Mycelium goes through a period of lethargy as it adapts to this new food source; Mycelium must shift gears, so to speak, in order to direct its metabolism for this new food source;

-How long does it take for a mycelium culture to recover from diabetic shock and begin to colonize a substrate at a reasonable rate?
-Will the mycelium make a full recovery, and fully adapt to the BRF substrate?
-What are your own experiences/ideas/opinions on the topic of mycelium diabetic shock?

can take up to a week or more to recover. should make a full recovery but will exaust a lot of energy in the recovery process. and diabetic shock has been a topic of debate in my community (a small community but a community at that)some say it streghtens the myc and others say it makes it weaker. in my opinion i think doing it with an almost exausted culture can help shock life back into it. i want to know how it all works out? good luck:thumbup:

What I do is grind up about 1000 grams of my Metformin and add it to the bulk substrate. As of yet, I haven't had to actually use any insulin. Been lucky I guess. :shrug:

(LOL Sorry brudda, I couldn't resist. At least the ball gets rolling this way. If it's going to "recover" I'd give it a week before I started to worry. I have absolutely no clue about the rest.:goodluck:)

Question: Why do women wear make-up and perfume?
Answer: Because they're ugly and they stink.
