I don't know whether they'll tolerate a transplant, but my first instinct is to give the roots more room for bigger leaves.

The soil could be aerated and amended.

Mine will stay alive for several years, but they eventually get leggy, after repeated harvests.

Rather than harvesting the oldest leaves, at the bottom, before they get too tough, it might work better to harvest from the top. If i had done that, I might have little bushes, rather than little trees.

collards love frosts or people who eat collards should love frosts. It makes them sweeter
