do you have to do scientific research? write a paper or a book on mushrooms? cultivate them?

hmm. I remember reading a dictionary for the definition of a professional. It is generally a person who gets paid for whatever the person does.

edit: sorry, forgot to finish. Anyways, maybe you have had to have been paid at one point or another for being a mycologist, to be considered one.
