Suicide?
    #11175175 - 10/03/09 03:55 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Why not?

I don't want to kill myself. However, if we are all one and just one mind what happens when you die?

I mean it seems like death is just the death of the ego and not the soul.

The question remains..Why not? What would happen? The idea is kind of tempting in a morbid way...

I think the 'why not' is that life is valuable.
At least it is for me.

But it ends just the same. By committing suicide now you might avoid the disillusionment and decay that will be coming.

yeah. im currently struggling so i just sort of had to ask.

not in a "I'm going to kill myself way", more in "well, shit sucks right now, apparently the eternal void/cosmos/god/some crazy shit different than this awaits, why not?" kind of way.

I mean, is life really that valuable here--what the fuck is wrong with dying?

I can't recall that last time I was truly ecstatic to wake up and felt optimistic, happy, and free of worry.

Sounds like 3 great reasons to shift the way you're relating to the world.

I wish I could prove to you that those arabs go to some awesome form of heaven with 100 virgins, but I can't, what I can prove to you, is that when you believe in the ways of the flying spaghetti monster, when you die, your soul will go to heaven, where a hooker bar and a beer volcano provide you unlimited enjoyment that never gets old.

They are in a better place, a place where they can't be forced to be angry or guiltily by their religious leaders, nor will they be forced any longer to pass judgment on others or be forced by guilt to murder. They enter a better place, for the fact that they enter the void, the great beyond.

That seems like your view of why they are in a better place based on what you believe they should not have believed in in the first place..

I'm doing some reading on Jung right now so I'll tell you what he might say about suicide

suicide is just the start of something new, it is equivalent to letting go of your current life and being reborn, although we usually don't think of it that way, because we think death is the end (I suppose Jung believed in an afterlife)

however, suicide is also the failure to keep the psyche in wholeness

I suppose, but they have been raised by it and often cannot be released from it except through death. It is important to make that distinction, this is why they do what they do. Compared to others who have been tough the same but choose not to do it.
