I have an old Windows 95 game that I'd like to play on this computer that has Win XP..........
but my dumb ass can't seem to get the damn thing to work

Will the game run in DOS as well?
If so you can download "Dosbox" and run it that way.

Windows 95 game? I don't know man that's pushing it...
I know you can't play a bunch of games on the 64 bit version of Vista, so it may just be a compatibility issue you can't do anything about :/

"run in windows XXX compatibility mode"

Many if not all windows 95 games will also run in dos and a dos emulator is easy to download for free.

can't find any specific info on playing that particular game, but this tek for using compatibility mode should help you get things sorted

if you cant get it to work they released that game on sega genesis too, so it shouldnt be that hard to find emu/rom for it.
