Steam dyed my substrate?

Ok, this was a crazy little phenomenon during my friends most recent grow.
During the sterilization process, he placed red rags along the bottom of the pot. When he took out the jars, he noticed that the pot had bright red marks along the bottom. Also, a few jars had substrate dyed red in large patches. There were holes in the lids of the jars so foil was placed onto the lids, yet the only way I see that happening would be for steam to have leaked into the jars.
Anyway, the myc. grew very quickly in all 10 jars, so there have yet to be any complications from this unusual happenstance.

This only happened in 3 or 4 jars.

The red is actually in the jar, or is it just stained onto the outside of the glass?

I dont either, thats why i think its just on the outside of the jar. Unless he had the jars submersed in the water or something. The color from the rags wouldnt be carried with the steam, so therefore, I dont see how it could get into the jar.

It's inside the jars, folks. I promise you. And he did not have them submersed! That would have been silly.
Now, the mycilium has dyed red also. The burn marks in the pot were the same shade of red as the cakes, which is why we presumed that that is where the red came from.

Very very strange! I do hope my friend gets red mushrooms!!!!

The new pics look more convincing, but i still dont get it. Post some pics of the cakes when you birth them, then I will be completely convinced.

I will, Benci, but for now, please believe me! I wouldn't lie to you guys. This doesn't make any sense though, does it? Even if the red was carried in with steam, that would have messed up the moisture level and the cakes would have been a failure. But none of the red jars are showing any symptoms. They're growing fine. I've never seen burnt brf+verm, but I wouldn't expect it to turn this shade of red.
Next grow, I'm definitely putting green rags at the bottom of my pot.

Lol, then you'll get green cakes! And dont get me wrong, I dont actually think you are lying about it, I just cant come to any good answer for it, so I dont believe it. Kind of like Ripley's believe it or not shit. I dont believe half of that shit but Im sure most of it is true.
