Can there be a flesh eating parasite in my lake?!? (Im Scared)

I live in Central Florida and have a spring fed lake in the back of my house where people boat/ski on. I used to go swimming in there everyday until I found out about this flesh eating parasite that lived in Amazonian lakes. It can burrow into your skin or even your penis where it begins to eat you alive and results in large parts of your body to become amputated. AHH!!!! I havent gone swimming in the lake since I heard of this South American Satanic Parasite. DOes anyone know if there is any chance this organism can inhabit my lake?!?

Is the "lake" stagnant? Or does it constantly replenish, drain itself? As long as it runs, i would think it would be okay, especially if it comes from a resevoir, or aquifers. You could have tests done, but i dont have a clue of how expensive it is... nor if that parasite could be in florida..

if it's spring fed it get new water constantly
psilly, I'd bet if people ski on the lake all the time it's VERY SAFE.

Well the reason why I raise more of a concern is because a skier would only be in and out of the lake a few times a week (5-10 mins) and would'nt actaully be constantly swimming around. I take 30 miute swims almost everyday and Ive seen people who had to get there whole part of there muscle cut off cuase some crazy microscopic parasite burrowed into his skin. SO if there is one in this lake, then it would probably most likely attak me

Talking about warm water, if you're swimming behind someone and the water gets unusually warm in a small spot then cold again, you just swam through their piss.

i don't see a problem with answering to an old thread - i mean its silly to think that these things have a time limit on them, if people are talking about it now (again) after all this time [some of these people might not have even been here when the OP originally posted this thread]
- it would defeat the purpose of making an entirely new thread, just to add a few thoughts that weren't here before (after all these years) - some people get all sarcastic when you answer to an old thread - but i never saw the point - just seems silly.
besides, why make an entirely new duplicate thread when one already exists???

there is no time limit on relevant threads. this one is not relevant. neither was your response to the OP.. obviously his penis was already eaten by the amazonian water monster and your response was 3 1/2 years too late, end of story

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_stagnation
my response was aimed more towards the community as a whole rather than the OP himself - not to mention that your opinion of 'relevant' (as well as anybody Else's here) is purely subjective & since yours is that there is no time limit on 'relevant threads' - you have absolutely no business being here in the first place.
on another note - urinating in water as some one said earlier is a great way to get a flesh eating amoebae /parasite and sounds painful even thinking about.
